For Sale: 1940 Ford Deluxe in Omaha, Nebraska

Vehicle Description

I've had this car 9 years and purchased it from the person that first built it into a steeetrod in the late 1990's. I rebuilt/replaced the entire drivetrain and most mechanicals in 2017. It gets driven a few hundred miles per year and has less than 1,200 miles on the new drivetrain and mechanicals. Odometer shows 13,000, which is mileage since first built into a streetrod.

You can view a walkaround video with the car running, a video of the engine bay with the car running, and a start-up/shut-down video on YouTube linked right below. I'll add a driving video come spring if it's still for sale - check back!

1940 Ford Deluxe coupe with 530-horsepower roller 383 SBC, TH400 3-speed automatic transmission and 9-inch Ford rear axle. Less than 1,200 on rebuilt drivetrain.

- Polished Weiand 177 Pro Street supercharger
- Holley 750 CFM HP-body Supercharger carburetor
- Air Flow Research (AFR) aluminum heads
- Howards hydraulic roller blower cam
- Fully forged rotating assembly - forged pistons/forged rods/forged crank
- ARP-Studded 4-bolt main
- MSD electronic ignition

The motor was professionally built, balanced and engine-dyno tuned. Output was 530 horsepower and 523 lb-ft of torque, reaching 500 lb-ft by just 3,000 RPM.

TH400 3-speed automatic transmission, heavy duty street torque converter built-to-order by Dynamic Converters, 9-inch Ford rear axle built-to-order by Quick Performance with heavy-duty ¼ inch axle tubes and Strange nodular iron center section, and Eaton Truetrac 3.50-geared limited-slip differential. Heavy-duty steel drive shaft with heavy-duty 1350 U-joints.

Additional equipment, most of it all new with the rebuild includes a B&M stacked-plate transmission cooler; Tuff Stuff alternator; Hitachi high-torque mini starter; Walker Z-series radiator; Stewart water pump; block-hugger headers, collectors, and exhaust; Hooker aero chamber mufflers.

Mustang II front end with new Eaton Detroit MII springs, new QA1 shock absorbers and new upper and lower ball joints and tie-rod ends. The rear suspension is a Posies Superslide parallel leaf spring with new Bilstein shocks and new traction/slapper bars. Brakes are power-assist with discs in front and new 11-inch complete drum assemblies from Quick Performance in back. Also new with the rebuild were front brake pads, master cylinder with proportioning valves, front and rear residual valves, front and rear flex lines and Lokar parking brake assembly.

The paint is from when the car was first built into a streetrod in the late 1990's and is PPG two-stage "Deep Plumb Pearl". The all-steel body was modified in a very strategic and targeted way that leaves the windshield and rear window uncut - they retain their original height. The A-pillars have been leaned back, the B-pillars leaned forward and longer '40 Ford sedan doors used. This is the exact same design and modifications as the original "Magnum Forty" 1940 Ford Coupe that was designed and built by Sam Foose. It can be seen here: https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/Event/Details/1940-FORD-DELUXE-CUSTOM-2-DOOR-COUPE-137536

Later owners of the Foose car made further modifications such as the front-opening doors and 1-piece rear-window, but these were not Sam's design or original build.

The original builder of my 1940 Ford Coupe that I'm selling saw the Foose car in the 1990's and contacted Foose, who provided the specifics of his design.

Other subtle custom work includes smoothed bumpers, the side stainless trim pieces that were used as the divider down the center of the hood, shortened hood side stainless trim, frenched 1941 Studebaker tail lights.

Powder-coated 15-inch steel wheels with polished aluminum 1949 Ford hubcaps and ribbed beauty rings. Tires are brand new Uniroyal Tiger Paw 175/65 in front and Cooper Cobra 235/80 in back, with excellent tread remaining.

The cabin is upholstered front and rear in two-tone light mauve and cream vinyl with a split bench seat, matched door panels, headliner, sun shades, carpeting, and floor mats. Lap belts, a Vintage Air heating and air conditioning system, a custom wrapped-to-match steering wheel, and a CD stereo.

Instruments in-dash are VDO gauges with a 120-mph speedometer as well as gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The electric VDO coolant temp gauge is not working but a working Bosch mechanical coolant temperature gauge along with a Bosch boost/vacuum gauge are mounted beneath the dash. An adjustable 8K-rpm tachometer is mounted atop the dash.

The paint code for the Deep Plumb Pearl is known and will be provided as well as a California Car Covers custom-fit cover and bag for the cover and build documents.

It's titled as a 1940 Ford Coupe with a clear Nebraska title.
