Vehicle Description
1972 Mercedes Benz 350SL 2-Door Roadster - First Year of the R107 -
4.5L V8 - Automatic Transmission - 71k Original Miles - Blue Over
Blue Interior - Color Matched Removable Hard Top - Aftermarket
Radio - Protect-O-Plate - All Original Example Internally referred
to as the R107 within the Mercedes-Benz brand, the 1972 model was
one of the first North American Mercedes to bear the 350 SL badge.
Noted as a key market for Mercedes, two thirds of the R107 and C107
models produced were sold in North America. Produced with a larger
4.5L V8 with a 3-speed automatic, the 350 SL was renamed the 450 SL
for the 1973 model year. Displayed here is an eye catching 1972
Mercedes-Benz 350SL Roadster. Sporting a blue color scheme
throughout, including interior, soft top, and wheels, this Mercedes
has an elegant and purposeful look. Mercedes Benz named paint
colors many things that often included fancy words, but this car
with the paint code 903 is simply called Blue. Pretty simple for
such a beautiful, rich color. The paint itself does show a bit of
age and a few small paint chips can be seen in the common areas
like around the wheel wells, this vehicle does show well. The
chrome shines attractively from the front to the back of the car,
and black trim shows well. This roadster also includes a matching
hard top in addition to the original canvas soft top. Under the
hood is the 1972 model year specific 4.5L V8 engine paired with an
automatic transmission. Noted as delivering 230 horsepower, these
cars had some get up and go, especially for the time period when
they were first sold. As you would expect from a V8 engine, the car
makes a nice sound when giving the go pedal some extra pressure.
With a fully independent suspension and four-wheel disc braking
being standard, this vehicle was nothing close to a performance
model but could be considered simply reliable. As we mentioned
earlier, the whole car is finished in blue, so the rich blue
interior should be no surprise to see. It's obvious that the
interior has been well cared for over the years. Seats carpet and
even the dashboard which is prone to cracking look great. Other
interior details include electric window switches in the center
console, an aftermarket Denon stereo, dual climate control, and lap
belts. The sale of this vehicle includes original owner's manuals
as well as service literature. The classic lines of the R107
Mercedes Benz generation are unmistakable and have aged well. This
350SL is a beautiful car that has class and sophistication. We hope
you take a moment to consider this beautiful Mercedes as your next
collector vehicle. Please call if interested or e-mail with
