For Sale: 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 in Pearland, Texas

Vehicle Description

This is a holy grail day 2 low low milage real deal 1969 Camaro Z/28 #s matching DZ302. Certified by Jerry Macniesh with Camaro Hi-Performance Inc. This car was bought new and drag raced shortly after. Garaged kept 1 repaint, extremely clean  undercarriage, factory floor pans, no rust. In a class if it’s own. Mirror ready show quality Lemans blue with Dover white stripes. Black interior. I purchased this car out of Amarillo Tx. in 1999 that was stored in a garage since 1981 (still has the 1981 Texas DPS inspection sticker on the original windshield and shows 4975 miles). Vehicle was sold new in Midwest City, Oklahoma.GM official production date 09/18/1969.

I found this car highly original in its original paint that was dull and had some door dings. Complete rotisserie restoration, soft stripped (have restoration pictures showing the car in bare metal) finding no rust or body filler. Body is laser straight, metal was treated, etched and sealed in high quality PPG DP 90 epoxy primer and refinished in PPG base coat clear coat. All factory sheet metal. Hood not original to the car. Car came with a flat hood. The ZL2 hood was on the car when purchased. The only items that I had to purchase for the exterior body was the side mirror and the front Endura bumper. All the trim, rear number (original chrome) badging, glass, lenses are original to the car.

Black Interior is in exceptionally great condition. Original drivers seat, headliner, door panels with original window cranks are pristine condition. Replaced steering wheel with a rosewood aftermarket, replaced dash pad, carpet and added console with aftermarket gauges.  Being a day 2 car modifications were made to drag race. Heater core and housing was removed and blocked off with aluminum panel.  It had Goodyear poly-glass GT tires (in which I still have) 15x8 rims in the rear and 14x7 in the front. 5.36 gear (which I still have) was removed from the factory original #s matching housing and originally came with a 3.73 that was professionally installed by Pyle bros. Baytown Tx. Engine was built by Owens racing; still has the standard bore with new TRW replacement pistons and rings were installed still having the factory 11 to 1 compression as they came from the factory.

Car won "Best in Class" at Houston Autorama and gets full attention everywhere it goes. Car is very fast when you want it to be and the driving experience of the high RPM DZ302 is like no other! I purchased this vehicle with the odometer showing 5500 miles. I have driven this car only 1425 miles in the past 23 years. Transmission is not original to the car but could possibly be attained. Currently has the correct side cover plate and used to have the numbers matching transmission but were mistakenly exchanged by an old friend. I am in the process of trying to locate the original numbers matching transmission and will have more information later. Here are a few comments made by nationally-certified Jerry MacNiesh of Camaro Hi-Performance: "very good paint condition, correct Lemans blue and good stripe placement, good original interior, the under carriage has very good original floors and no rust at all. He verbally mentioned that he rarely sees factory window cranks which mine still has. He also noted some fastener issues and that some of the mechanical parts were the wrong color, all of which can be easily corrected.

Car is priced to sell and belongs in someone's collection. She's a trailer queen, has been garaged all her life and hasn't even seen rain since I have had ownership. Not really wanting to sell but for the right price and the right buyer I will let her go to invest in a business venture. Look closely and please compare before you buy!  If you like what you see and are seriously interested, please contact me. Thank you for your interest.
