Vehicle Description
It's already hard not to love a 1960 Ford Fairlane that looks like
one of Andy Griffith's Mayberry police cars. But when that classic
also has a genuine cop-like powerful 390 V8 under the hood, there's
even more fun than just reminiscing with this classic piece of
Americana.
A 1960 Fairlane was already a desirable car, even before turning it
into a nostalgia machine. The design was unique to the full-size
Fords just for this year. Outstretched fenders, raised full-length
trim, and beautiful wraparound tailfins showed off what stylists
could do in the 1960s. It has a good look with a distinct grille,
giant chrome bumpers, and upgraded Torq Thrust wheels, but just
like Sheriff Andy, nothing here ever gets too fancy. You can tell
its primary mission is to be enjoyed. After all, the star on the
door for Mayberry's Finest will make everyone who sees it smile.
The black & white paint, gumball light, and old-school siren are
reminiscent of a time when solving a crime meant returning a
homemade pie.
The time warp continues on the inside, where the simple black vinyl
interior looks correct. It's a driver-quality cruiser, but the
seats are in good shape. So Andy and Barney have not patrolled in
this one too much lately. But when a situation does arise at
Floyd's, you'll be the first to know, thanks to the included CB
radio.
Under the hood is serious police business. For the few times that
real crime does try to enter Mayberry, this Ford has a 390
cubic-inch V8 with a four-barrel carb, an aluminum intake, and
headers feeding the dual exhaust. Right now, it's set up more for a
cruiser lifestyle, but you know some weekend shadetree mechanic
work can unleash the kind of fury that can chase crime and push it
out of town. And no matter how you enjoy it, we like the attractive
addition of the golden valve covers and police interceptor decals.
Plus, features like the three-speed automatic transmission and a
new set of wide modern tires make it easier to cruise this
cruiser.
We can have great fun describing this car, which is the whole
point. Whether you want to lead a parade or have fun in your home
garage, this is great collectible nostalgia. Call now!
