Vehicle Description
A full-size drop-top like this 1962 Ford Galaxie convertible makes
for an excellent classic cruiser. It only improves with investment
in upgrading items like the suspension and fuel-injected V8 power.
So it'll be hard to resist taking out a convertible that was made
to feel more confident out on the road.
We love this full-sized Ford because they took their time with the
style lines. Everything seems to flow together, like the headlights
that melt into the fender, the tail lights that are cradled by the
bumper, and the full-length trim wraps around the front end. It
makes for a great-looking vintage car We're told the restoration
was done on this in 2017, and you may even find some items that
feel a bit older. It's part of a total package that likes to give
you a proper old-school look while also upgrading the actual
driving experience. For example, metallic red paint is an older
application that has a radiant look in the sunshine with the right
looks of use. The same goes for the chrome bumpers with a hint of
patina. It's the right kind of style on a classic lowrider-style
cruiser. That's also why you have the lowered suspension and plenty
of sharp-looking golden pinstriping. And as you look closer... the
good weather-stripping, newer convertible top, and wide BF Goodrich
T/As are more about investing in a comfortable cruiser for
today.
The bright red interior looks good against the exterior, and now
it's joined by a tasteful black. The carpet, door panels, and dash
pad look good. And we especially like the seats with the detailed
trim and comfy cloth inserts. It's all part of the right look for a
fun car that's also easy to let family and friends pile in and go
for a drive. You'll find a nice list of worthwhile details. It
includes stock-style items like the power convertible top,
convertible boot, and a large center console. This is joined by
upgrades like the interior lighting and an AM/FM/CD stereo. Plus,
the added sports steering wheel, tilt column, and aux temp gauge
are the right feature for a better cruiser.
We continuously have been calling this an excellent cruiser, and
when you open the hood, you fully understand why. The mighty Ford
FE block has been built for a true driver's setup. The V8 now has a
FAST electronic fuel injection system sitting atop an Edelbrock
aluminum intake. It makes for a better all-around powerhouse. There
are also plenty of nice newer supporting components for added style
and durability, like the Cobra finned valve covers, an HEI
distributor, upgraded brackets, upgraded pulleys, and a serpentine
belt system. Plus, the aluminum radiator with an electric fan helps
keep this complete package running cool. It is an excellent
cruiser, and the hum from the dual exhaust and Flowmaster mufflers
is positively hypnotic. You also have newer bushings, a three-speed
automatic transmission, and hydroboost power brakes with discs up
front. And have you seen the rear suspension? It's a strong tubular
steel four-link upgrade with adjustable coil overs. Oh yes, you'll
like driving this Galaxie.
