Vehicle Description
This 1960 Ford Galaxie is a sought-after design on the classic car
market, and this example has all the right style for a patina barn
find. And as you look over the whole package, there are fun
surprises everywhere, from the working AM radio to the era-correct
big 352ci V8 under the hood.
This was the first year for a new Galaxie heading up the full-size,
and Ford wanted to make such a distinct impression that they ended
up going too far and toning it down for 1961. So you have a
single-year style that has matured into something exceptional.
Today we see the design as something quite impressive. You'd see
styling elements from this car debut on the following year's
Thunderbird. It's in the way the front fenders have rounded
extensions, and the trim line that starts there zooms down the car
along its elevated line. It's an intricate style, and this one is
complete, right down to the badging on the c-pillar. Corinthian
White is the factory-correct color, and this has some serious age
and patina that would even have us suspect it's the original
application. And while you could almost call the appearance
anti-flair, that's part of the natural appeal here. Couldn't you
imagine putting a matte clearcoat over this to seal the style and
then restomod the interior and powertrain? Or maybe you keep it as
a cruiser or rat rod. There's a world of possibilities open to you
when you have a complete example and a value price that can level
plenty of room in your budget.
Just like the exterior, the red interior is the correct color and
has an aged look of originality. And we love the details, like the
cloth inserts in the seats and the bright trim in the door panels,
which are still there. Even the AM radio is still cranking out
tunes. The only upgrade that may be there is the tinted windows.
And as mature as the interior is, it also is convenient for taking
along family and friends. The rear seat looks like it has seen less
use, and this full-size Ford has limo-worthy legroom. Overall, it's
the right kind of style for a particular kind of classic car fan.
So while you could completely customize the interior (and likely
resell all the stock trim for a small fortune), there's something
extra cool about how time has crafted its presence inside.
This sedan was optioned with Ford's 352 cubic-inch V8 - the largest
available at the time. And this is an era-correct block with such a
simple style that there are thoughts of originality. What we
particularly like is how this one still loves to show a touch of
cruiser flair. It's in the appearance of the repainted bright blue
valve cover and matching air grabber. And there are also practical
pieces like a newer aluminum radiator. The V8 fires right up like a
barn find, ready for its second life. It feels like a classic large
sedan out on the road, but there are also good cruising features
like a three-speed automatic transmission and modern touring
tires.
This is the distinct single-year survivor-grade Galaxie that has
some out-of-the-world potential. We bet you already have plans for
it, but you only get to have fun if you're the first to grab this
deal. Call now!
