Vehicle Description
This 1989 Chevrolet Camaro IROC Z/28 is a terrific all-around
classic sports car. It has all the features you love, like T-tops,
a mean/dark style, and cold-blowing A/C. And at the heart of it all
is the top-dog fuel-injected powerhouse.
This Camaro looks great in black. After all, the IROC-Zs were the
kings of the Camaro hill, and the full darkness reinforces the
attitude. But we also like how it makes the car more sophisticated.
Elements like the hood louver trim, full body kit, and three-piece
rear spoiler are a bit more integrated when they are part of a
color-matched design without dividing lines or stripes. That's why
this one just looks sleeker than others. The other thing that we
like about this coupe is that it's a true driver's car. It strikes
that tight mix where it looks great even if just parked in your
driveway, but nothing here is too fancy to also enjoy the open
road.
The interior has an exceptional sense of style. It has a nice and
dark appearance that goes well with the exterior, and so it looks
great with the T-tops out. But those seats are a comfy velour with
a tasteful gray to break up the full blackout appearance. So it has
style and distinction. The odometer is believed to reflect the full
actual mileage, and so the condition of fundamentals like the
upholstery leads us to believe there have been solid investments in
the right places. This one is loaded with terrific factory features
like a power driver's seat, power windows, an armrest center
console, a tilt steering column, and cruise control. There have
been some upgrades, but they are subtle and well-integrated. It
includes the RS steering wheel, tinted windows, an AM/FM/CD stereo,
and air conditioning now blowing cold with modern R134a
refrigerant.
Under the hood is where this Camaro becomes even more desirable. It
has the optional L98 350 cubic-inch fuel-injected motor that was
shared with the Corvette. It has been upgraded further with an
Edelbrock high-flow intake, an HEI distributor, and headers. Adding
power to this motor is a good choice because Chevy understood
sturdy components. That's why this motor could only be mated to the
stout 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission (the stock motor
already made too much power for the five-speed manual of the day.)
Having a modern classic like this also means plenty of worthwhile
driver upgrades. For example, this IROC has four-wheel disc brakes,
power steering, sway bars front & rear, power steering, and a nice
tread on those BF Goodrich gForce Comp2 tires.
This is a well-presented IROC-Z that over-delivers on your
expectations. That's why there's even a second set of T-tops that
come with the sale.
