Vehicle Description
Between 1961 and 1974 Jaguar designed and built the E-Type or XK-E
for North
America, and quite literally might be one of the most gorgeous cars
of all time,
even Enzo Ferrari thought so. If that is not saying something, I am
not sure
about your stance. The E-Type was based on Jaguars D-Type racing
car which
had won Le Mans three years in a row beginning in 1955. In addition
to it being
beautiful, it ranked in the top tier of cars by most
publications.
This particular excellent "driver quality" example that we are
excited to
represent comes out of long-term ownership and has remained largely
original
with what appears to be one re-paint years ago. The all-original
interior and
convertible soft top show commensurate wear given this Jaguar
celebrated its
50 th this year. This V-12, manual transmission E-Type convertible
was purchased
many years ago, driven, enjoyed and maintained when something
needed
attention. No, unfortunately we do not have a British Heritage
Cert, but from
what I can tell the red is correct, the drivetrain appears to be
correct and most
of all, this car starts very nicely, idles quietly, the choke
works, lights and
gauges work as well. Heck, it even has an 8-track player with a
Sonny and Cher
8-track still in it. I have personally driven this car and it is
truly delightful,
smooth under both acceleration and braking, the synchro's in the
transmission
seem good and there appears to be no rattling or clunking coming
from
anywhere. The balanced, low-rumble of the V-12 under acceleration
is truly
something to be enjoyed and will likely be regulated out of the new
car market
in the years to come. The underside is presentable for that of a
driver, the pans
are rust free as there is no major corrosion, just surface rust on
some areas. In
my opinion, this car would be great to do a cosmetic restoration or
better
yet....leave it alone and just continue to enjoy the timeless style
and
sophistication of V-12 Jaguar life.
