popular Super Sport Roadster (SSR) concept shown at the 2000 North
American Auto Show in Detroit, Chevrolets SSR was first sold as a
2003 model. Heightening the excitement, the SSR served as the
official Pace Car for the 2003 Indianapolis 500. Clearly paying
homage to Chevys landmark 1947-53 pickup trucks, the SSR reached
production with its bold show-car styling almost completely
unchanged. Most prominently, the SSR features an ASC-supplied
power-retractable hardtop, which raises or lowers in just 60
seconds, quickly transforming the SSR from a snug hardtop to a
sporty roadster.Advanced manufacturing processes were used
throughout the SSR, including the deep stampings for its prominent
rear fenders. Based on a modified TrailBlazer EXT frame with
hydroformed steel side rails, the SSR was initially powered by GMs
300-horsepower Vortec 5300 V-8 engine, and a 4-speed automatic
transmission. Underpinnings included rack-and-pinion steering,
4-wheel disc brakes, a control-arm front suspension, and a
five-link rear setup. Updates soon included the 390-horsepower
6.0-liter LS2 aluminum V-8 engine, significantly boosting
performance with 405 foot-pounds of peak torque.Never a
high-production vehicle, the SSR was only produced through 2006 and
it remains a collector favorite. Offered with only 42,050 actual
miles, this 2005 Chevrolet SSR sports the rare optional 6-speed
manual transmission. Highly desirable livery includes a Black paint
finish, which remains original. The Black leather interior is
highly equipped with air conditioning, an AM/FM CD stereo system
