Vehicle Description
This 1948 Plymouth Coupe Pro Street is a well-presented custom
coupe made for all-around appeal. After all, we all love a classic
with a terrific back story, and this one includes a passion project
that gives you distinct paint, an upgraded interior, and a big V8
with a supercharger on top!
We love the '48 Plymouth because it was one of the last pre-way
holdovers. So the guys at Plymouth gave it all the best little
detail to keep it looking fresh. So the wraparound trim
incorporated the headlights, and the rear wheels have some added
fender skirt built into the sheet metal. And you still have the
best classic details, like the trim that runs the full length and
the Plymouth sailboat emblem leading the way forward. But you don't
just love this for its vintage style. You're attracted to the full
street machine persona. Bright purple paint, deleted bumpers,
cat-eye headlights, shaved door handles, and the louvered hood are
pure hot rod cool. And the way the side pies peek out from under
the doors and the Weld racing wheels hold all that rear rubber give
this the stance that tells you this has the power to back up its
speedy style. This car was built by Ray Williams, who was known for
some cool cars. This one is especially distinct because Ray owned
it since new. He turned it into a passion project custom around
2000. This is when the paint, stance, and full pro street style
were added. That's important to know because this continues to
represent the final evolution of Ray's build. So while you may find
details that are imperfect, the idea right now is more about
presenting a craftsman's legacy car than work for the sake of
flair. Plus with only about 7k miles on this since completion, you
can really see the clean and speedy style of this passion
project.
The interior has plenty of added comfort and custom style. The
purple returns inside, and now it's joined by a tasteful gray so
that the full presentation is attractive and not too boisterous.
There's room for plenty of people if you want to share the
experience, but the driver is the one who will always have the most
fun. The Grant GT sports steering wheel, tilt column, B&M
shifter, and dash full of Moon Eyes readouts proves the focus is on
you.
A cool custom Plymouth like this deserves a strong Mopar motor in
the engine bay. This is a monster 468 cubic-inch V8... and if that
wasn't already enough, there's also a B&M supercharger on top!
This mighty Mopar powerhouse looks great with the mirrored inner
walls showing off its muscle. But don't forget to also spot
practical components, like the dual fans on the radiator and the
battery box moved to the trunk for better weight distribution. This
one fires up with a terrific rumble as a set of custom headers feed
into the side pipes. The TH400 three-speed automatic transmission
is a stout unit made to handle big power, and that feeds into an
upgraded rear diff. And as you check out the undercarriage photos,
you'll see the right powder-ready components, like the strengthened
frame, rear traction bars, and extra meaty Mickey Thompson tires
that fit in the tubbed rear. As dragstrip ready this whole car
looks, a pro street car also likes to just go cruising on a
Saturday night. So you have easy driving features like power
steering and front disc brakes.
Complete with tilt documentation, this is a cool Plymouth with an
exceptional story to tell. So it's time for you to be a part of
this legend. Call today!!!
