This 1985 CJ7 Renegade is a very cool Jeep with a great look. This
is an all steel and rust free body Jeep that spent its life in
California. This is a low mileage Jeep with added Fuel Injection
and it has an Automatic Transmission. The body on this Jeep is
clean, straight, and solid. The Olympic White paint appears to be
original as do the decals. Both the paint and decals are still in
great original condition. The underside is really clean and we
found no rust issues with this Jeep. The inside of the tub was
bedlined years ago and has held up well. It has a newer BesTop Soft
Top which is in great condition. This jeep has aftermarket front
and rear bumpers with a vintage Warn Winch on the front that does
work.
The interior is your basic Jeep inside that is in nice condition.
The front bucket seats were replaced with a nice aftermarket set at
some point and the rear seat is original and is still in excellent
condition. This Jeep has the factory roll bar and it has
aftermarket locking center console. The headlights, taillights,
brakelights, and turn signals are working. All of the gauges work
and the heat and wipers work. The factory tach and clock are not
working which pretty much the norm on these old Jeeps and the horn
is not working but you can hear it clicking in the relay.
Mechanically this Jeep is great and it starts easy and runs and
drives wonderful. The engine is the original 258 Inline 6 (4.2L)
with added Howell Fuel Injection. They also added a Pacesetter
Header to the exhaust. The transmission is the 904 Automatic that
shifts nice. It is mated to the Dana 300 Transfer Case and the 4WD
works like it should. It has the AMC 20 rear axle with 3.31 gears
and Dana 30 front axle with 3.31 gears. This is all sitting on a
nice set of chrome rims with BFG All terrain 31 Inch Tires.
