Vehicle Description
1968 Chevrolet Chevelle SS
The Chevelle name was first introduced in 1964 and remained in
production until 1978. They were part of the A-body platform and
went on to be among the most successful nameplates for Chevrolet.
Various body styles were produced throughout their run and
Chevrolet designed the "Super Sport" version to be their entry into
the muscle car world. These cars features different exterior
accents, bucket seats and were more focused on overall performance.
This beautiful 1968 belongs to the 2nd generation which saw some
major redesigns to the body as they now had adopted the long hood
and short deck profile with a fastback style roofline. It has the
"138" code in the VIN number indicating it is a true SS car. The
car has been fully restored and since completed is always garage
kept under a cover. The body is all solid and rust free. It is
painted in a nice Red paint paired with a Black vinyl top. There is
also a Black painted strip on the rear and lower portions of the
body which all work together for a very clean cohesive look. The
original style chrome bumpers have a very nice shine as does all
the stock style stainless trim and emblems. The glass is free from
any rock chips and all has a slight tint. The car now has a cowl
hood from a 1970 Chevelle which is a nice touch and looks great on
the car. It has a great stance and rides on American Racing Torq
Thrust wheels. They have a nice shine and are wrapped with fresh
Nitto tires (Rear- NT555R Drag Radials 285/40, Front- Motive
225/45).
Turning those tires is a nicely built up 454 big block motor that
has been bored 30 over. It is very worthy of showing off with its
painted to match block/heads, polished Chevy bowtie valve covers,
open top Edelbrock air cleaner, braided lines and billet hood
hinges. The car runs well with no issues. The motor features an
Edelbrock RPM air gap intake, Wilson manifold extender, Scorpion
roller rockers, Isky racing cam, Holley sniper EFI carburetor,
hyper spark distributor, Holley hyper spark ignition box, new power
steering pump, new water pump, new alternator and a new Power
Master ultra torque starter. As you can see only the best of the
best components were used in its build. The car has a great sound
through headers into dual exhaust but when it comes time to really
show off all you have to do is hit a button on the dash to open up
the custom hardwired Holley exhaust cutouts. The stock radiator has
been swapped out for a Cold Case aluminum radiator to help keep it
running cool. The has a new clutch plate and the motor is combined
with a Tremec TKO 600 5 speed transmission and a 12 bolt rear with
new 3:73 gears. The suspension on the car was all redone as well
and features a Hotchkis performance racing suspension and QA1
double adjustable shocks (TD505 & TD801). The car drives down the
road well and with power steering and Wilwood disc brakes is a
comfortable car to drive. Electrical problems are no concern thanks
to the all new American auto wire kit that was installed. Other
very nice features include the Holley fuel tank and Holley fuel
pump.
The interior is all Black and has been completely redone from top
to bottom. The headliner, carpet, and upholstery are all in great
condition. It has dual front bucket seats on each side of the
original style console that houses the Hurst floor shifter. The
dash features a new dash pad and combines a clean combo of stock
and aftermarket components. It has brand new Vintage USA digital
gauges which are all working properly and include a tachometer.
They are nicely laid out and look great. The adjustable AC vents
are built into the dash and the 1969 style Old Air system blows
cold. A Retro Sound AM/FM radio has been added and sounds great
through the JL Audio C1-690tx rear speakers with JBL Stage A6002
18in amplifier. Under the dash custom LED interior lighting has
been installed. The trunk has plenty of storage space for all your
car show gear and has a Chevy bowtie mat.
This car was built using only the best components throughout so
there is no way you could replicate it for our asking price. It
even has a car alarm to protect your investment and that is a
feature that often gets forgotten about when building these old
cars. It is clear this thing was well thought out and well
built.
