this car.
Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this beautiful numbers
matching 1972 Corvette Stingray Convertible in fantastic condition
with only 70,115 original miles. The Mille Miglia Red (973) over
Black (400) color combination is highly desirable, truly striking,
and looks great on this Corvette shark body style. Importantly,
this is also the correct and original color scheme as verified by
the codes on the trim tag, which is pictured in this ad. This car
is absolutely loaded with great options such as air conditioning,
power steering, power brakes, power windows, automatic
transmission, and tilt/telescopic steering column. It is rare in
1972 for a convertible model to come with air conditioning.
The car also comes with two tops, both the soft-top and the vinyl
covered hardtop, which are both pictured in this ad. The vinyl
hardtop is much more highly prized than the standard painted
hardtop. I have personally driven the Stingray about 20 miles.
During that time that it was completely reliable, has no issues,
and was a true pleasure to drive.
Besides the correct paint and trim codes this Corvette is "Numbers
Matching" meaning the engine and transmission that are in car are
the correct and original units that were installed in the car at
the factory in St. Louis in 1971. Even detailed items such as the
distributor, exhaust manifolds, all four rims, and even all of the
glass is date coded, correct, and original. The last six digits of
the VIN, 505733, are stamped on the engine pad, which is pictured
in this ad, and the engine is original to the car. The transmission
is also original with the last six digits of the VIN stamped on the
main case and pictured
We have this car priced to sell and are offering an excellent
opportunity to own a very desirable classic Corvette Stingray
Convertible at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car
now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come
as the market on C3 "chrome bumper" Corvettes from 1968 to 1972 is
absolutely red-hot right now and on the rise. The low mileage is
verified not only by the condition of the car, but also the clear
Ohio title, which is also pictured in this ad. Please peruse all of
the photos, video, list of numbers, and other information below to
get a true sense of how nice this Corvette really is.
As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. We
hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our Corvettes come
from owners who expect their car to go to someone that will give
the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and
encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car
inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We
photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel
confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the
Corvette, just give us a call.
Exterior
The Mille Miglia Red (973) exterior is in excellent condition. As
one can see in the photos the finish has dazzling gloss, smooth
finish, and deep shine. The rally wheels and center caps are in
great condition with a brilliant finish and no curb major rash.
Please note that this Stingray has the correct and original 4-clip
style beauty rings, not the cheaper foreign made replacements. The
Firestone raised white letter tires have about 95% tread left and
are correctly sized 225/70R15. The soft top is in good condition
with no rips or holes and the rear window is not yellowed. The
auxiliary vinyl hardtop is also in great condition. The chrome
looks great overall with a very nice finish. There are no major
blemishes that have been intentionally excluded from the photos.
There are some small spots on the hood and a few other tiny
imperfections around car that were too faint to show up in
pictures, but nothing that is really noticeable from about five
feet away. This Stingray has no rust issues. As one can see in the
many photos of the underside this car is very clean underneath. The
frame is solid with no rust around the "key hole" area on the frame
in front of the rear tire and we have seen no evidence of corrosion
around the windshield or "birdcage" area, which is the most common
spots for rust on a C3 Corvette. We have included specific photos
of the areas most prone to rust to show how nice this car
looks.
Window Date Codes
Please note that ALL of the glass on this Stingray, the windshield,
both "Astro Ventilation" door windows, and even the rear glass
window in the vinyl hardtop are all date coded and original as each
piece predates the car's body build date of the October 26, 1971
(C26). Original glass is a good indication that this car has no
major accident history.
Interior
The Black (400) interior of the Corvette is in fantastic condition.
The gauge faces are clean and crisp and the lenses are clear. The
dash and console are in excellent shape with no cracks, fading, or
sun damage. The original door panels are nice shape overall. The
carpet appears to be original and is in good condition with no
major stains, there is a spot of wear on right footwell. The seats
look just as good in person as they do in the photos with just a
small spot of wear in the typical spot on the bolster where the
driver gets in and out. Both seat belts work and retract properly.
This is a very common issue on C3 Corvettes and an item many buyers
do not think to check. The jack and jack handle are still with the
car, stored correctly in the storage compartment behind the
passenger seat. The spare is also still with the car. This Corvette
has never been smoked in; there are no burns marks and no aroma of
cigarettes.
Corvette interiors from this era are not known to wear well,
especially for a convertible, and the excellent condition of this
interior is a huge testament to the meticulous care and attention
this car has received throughout its life and another great
verification of the low original mileage.
Mechanical
This Corvette seems to be in very good mechanical condition. As
stated above I have driven the car about 20 mile with no issues.
The original numbers matching engine starts up right away every
time, runs well and idles smooth. It drives great and feels nice on
the road and at highway speeds. In the video one can observe the
car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through
all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves.
Please note that there are no strange noised or vibrations and the
car performs quite well overall. The brakes are responsive and do
not pull to one side or the other. The transmission shifts well
throughout the power band. Also, the engine compartment is
beautifully clean, detailed, and correct as one can see in the
photos. The original valve covers, air cleaner, and even the upper
ignition shielding are all still in place.
The radio works as do all the exterior lights, dash lights, horn,
and wipers. The blower for the heater and a/c works on all speeds.
The air conditioning itself works and blows cold. One can observe
the a/c compressor going on and engaging properly in the video.
Even the "Head Lamps" light on the dash works. The "Head Lamps"
light goes on properly when the headlights are first turned on and
goes off as it should when the headlights rise up. The entire
vacuum system for the headlights and wiper door works correctly.
The headlights and wiper door go up quickly, evenly, and with no
effort or binding the mechanisms. ...for more information please
