Sticker, Keys, and Manuals Long before the common saying for a new
and improved object was version 2.0, Mitsubishi was numbering each
generation of their performance sedan. True to the term Evolution,
this car, which is the 8th iteration of the top of the line Lancer,
has seen a number of improvements from the Evolution 7. The
Evolution lineup, known as the Evo by enthusiasts, started in 1992,
but the US market did not get a taste of the Evo cars until the Evo
8 appeared in dealer showrooms. This car was purchased new by our
consignor who is a car enthusiast, and has an appreciation for
performance cars. The Evo 8 is a car that to many just looks like a
small 4 door sedan that has a big spoiler on the trunk lid.
However, eagle eyed enthusiasts know the true performance potential
of the Evo, and will definitely spot the front mount intercooler,
hood vents, bright alloy wheels, red brake calipers, and large
carbon fiber rear spoiler which make the Evo unique. In the right
hands, Evo's are known to put down some fast lap times at the track
which rival Porsche's, Corvettes, or Ferraris of the same era.
Finished in Tarmac Black, this car has a bit of a mean look thanks
to the vented front bumper and rear spoiler. The exterior also
features HID headlamps, fog lamps, jewel rear lamps (yes Mitsubishi
calls them that), chrome tail pipe, and the carbon fiber clad rear
spoiler. Misubishi used aluminum for the vented hood and front
fenders to help keep weight down as well. The car currently sits on
17 Moda wheels wrapped in Dunlop tires, and comes with the factory
17 Enkei wheels which have Bridgestone Blizzak tires mounted on
them. As this is a car that is performance focused, the interior is
pretty spartan compared to what many may expect. Heated Recaro
seats and a MOMO steering wheel are the only notable items inside
the well kept interior. Otherwise, the basics are there; factory
stereo, A/C climate control, power windows, power locks, and
sunroof. Make no mistake, this car may have somewhat docile looks,
but is a performance car that is built to handle well, and
possesses a potent engine. This car is a bit of a rarity in that it
is unmodified. The powerplant is a 2.0 Liter DOHC Inline-4 that has
a Turbocharger worked in for a little extra boost in power.
Approximately 270 horsepower was on the table, which is delivered
to the ground through an all wheel drive system which has a viscous
center differential that delivers power to the front and the rear
wheels in a 50/50 manner. A 5-speed manual transmission handles
gear selection. The Evo is such a fun performance car, which is
sure to put a smile on your face, whether you are in the driver's
seat pushing to get your best lap time, or driving to the store.
Evo 8's are desirable cars despite currently being about 15 years
old, and this car is even more desirable thanks to the low mileage,
being unmodified, and having the original window sticker. Make room
for this awesome car which can help you with the evolution of your
garage, whether you are on evolution 2.0 or a much higher number.
