Vehicle Description
1995 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham
I'll admit it, I'm a sucker for a Cadillac, especially the
extravagant, Fleetwood-bodied Sixty Specials. If you ask me which
year is my favorite, the answer might well depend on the vintage of
the Caddy I'm looking at, (although I don't especially care for the
1960 or '69 models-sorry, bookends), so it might just be because
it's the one in front of me, but this mid 90's Brougham is looking
awful sweet!
Long and lovely, large and in charge, this radical original 1995
Caddy will make you the talk of the country club when you pull up,
and as you get out of this beauty, especially if you have some arm
candy under your wing. A Fleetwood Brougham, 4 doors to access and
egress, and enough trunk space to go cross country. Nicely rounded
off panels and retaining the rear cathedral taillights of yore,
this silver beauty is living large and in charge. A former funeral
home car come our consignor's baby, who happens to be a former ASE
master tech at a Cadillac dealership, so you know things were done
right. All repairs used genuine factory parts and a slew of repairs
and maintenancehave been performed with all the invoices coming
with your purchase.
Exterior
Medium Marblehead Metallic, (say that 10 times real fast!), bathes
the uppers of this car. For the lowers a charcoal wide plastic band
hovers just above the edge of the wheel wells and is the starting
point for the chrome trimmed rockers and lowers of this car. A nice
wide horizontal design grille leads the way and is flanked by
rectangular wrap around aero styled headlights, signals and marker
lights. Black thin trimmings surround all the glass, and fancy
alloy wheels are looking much like woven metal and bordering on a
wire wheel look, but with a contemporary flair and are wrapped in
thin white deep tread radials.
Interior
Larger than the average New Yorker's apartment, and flooded with
gray leather in all its tufted buttoned splendor, there are miles
of this stuff in this passenger compartment. The rear offers up
plenty of space and is also bathed in supple gray leather. The
original blue green LED dash and power conveniences abound also in
this luxurious interior. Seen is some burl veneer as an accenting
on several surfaces. The power seat works wonders, power windows go
up and down smoothly. Plenty of other conveniences that are all
standard Caddy fare are built in and functioning just fine baby
bear. Gray carpeting floods the floors and is in very clean
condition. A tight headliner floats above this comfy compartment
and has all functional accent lighting in working order. Of note,
our consignor replaced the non working dash lights, had a trim shop
repair the sagging material on the A and B-pillars, and repaired
the outer upper bolster of the driver's seat. He also performed
multiple scrubbings of the carpet and upholsteryto bring the
material back to perfection, tightened the loose elastic on the
seat pockets, and found the cause of the non-functional seat
heaters to be a bad control module, which he is including 3 spare
used units.
Drivetrain
With all that metal to get going, a flip of the hood and we note an
original 5.7 Liter LT-1 V8 engine. Plenty of plastic coverings that
are all clean and spit shined abound. This mill is sporting EFI and
a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission. Putting power to the ground
is a 10-bolt rear axle with 2.93 gears. Keeping with the fastidious
maintenance theme, the Optispark distributor was replaced along
with the water pump, thermostat, temp sensor, hoses, belt and belt
tensioner. Also, new knock sensors were installed and a complete
coolant flush was performed, then the system was filled with
Dexcool coolant.
Undercarriage
Normal surface rust is noted but none of it any structural concern.
New AC Delco shock absorbers are on, and we note independent coil
springs in front and a 4 link with coil springs for the back. The
air system for the rear suspension and its compressor is working
perfectly, a new steering damper was installed and new front
swaybar endlinks have been added for sure footed handling. Power
disc brakes on front and power drums for the rear, (all new as if
you would expect any less), along with the standard Cadillac
fingertip smooth power steering.
Drive-Ability
My partner in crime and crack decoder was my chauffeur and I sat
proudly in the back, bossing him around the test track, none of
which he listened to. We experienced nice powerful acceleration,
smooth shifting, and a velvety ride quality which being shuttled to
the nearby McDonald's drive thru, (we at Classic Auto Mall like to
live large and on the edge!). All functions were in working order
save for the aforementioned seat heaters, and all this class was
just a bit too high for my taste, (I'm more of a British car fan),
but nonetheless still very cool.
Larger than life, this long curvaceous aero design luxury cruiser
can whisk you down the highway with amazing comfort and amenities
that just do not quit while doing so. Here is your chance to make
an impression with this classic Caddy from 1995.
