Mechanical
Power for our wagon comes from a 232 cubic inch inline-six engine
mated to an automatic transmission. It looks just as it did when it
sold new back in 1966 with the engine, head, valve cover, intake
and air cleaner system all painted in the factory orange and having
the Rambler decals on the air cleaner too.
Everything else looks factory in the clean and detailed engine
compartment also.
Interior
The original interior has green vinyl upholstery and dark green
carpets that are set off by wood grain trim on the dash and door
panels. The front and rear seats are equipped with lap belts, and
interior options include an AM radio and foldable split-bench front
seat backs.
A factory 2-spoke steering wheel with an Ambassador horn button is
present as our all the factory gauges and controls and the cabin
appears to be largely stock and the instrumentation includes a 120
mph speedometer, and just over 97k miles are shown on the 5-digit
odometer.
Exterior
Our 1966 has the original paint still on it and Station wagons also
received a new roof (that did not have as pronounced dip over the
rear cargo area) as well as a redesigned.
It has two rows of seats with a standard bottom-hinged tailgate
with electric, fully retracting rear window, and a roof rack.
