For Sale: 1960 Sunbeam Alpine in Stratford, Connecticut

Vehicle Description

One of only 11,900 built, underwent a very thorough restoration a few years ago, not really driven since (we have all of the receipts on the restoration, total in excess of $60,000 and done by a local shop that I think is absolutely top notch). Excellent body, new bright red paint, new tan interior with black carpets, new convertible top, refinished wood dashboard, all original gauges and switches, has wire wheel splined hubs but currently fitted with expensive Minilite style light alloy wheels with splined center and original knock offs, all chrome appears to be new or rechromed, beautiful detail work in trunk and engine bay, rebuilt twin carbs, new wiring, redone radiator, all brakes done, rebuilt gearbox, new master cylinders, disc brakes, stainless steel headers, and.............

The first popularly priced British sports car with wind up windows, very luxurious for a 1960 (MGs, Triumph, and Healeys of the day used side curtains), sports car. And the top not only folds down BUT disappears under a real clamshell panel (VERY elegant for its day). And in 1960, 100 mph performance and disc brakes were more or less 'state of the art' and what the car offers is a slick, stylish, classic sports car that would be fun to use as a concours car.....not an enormous chance of seeing another one which makes taking to shows even more fun. I mean, think of the disappointment of taking your restored Porsche 356, Alfa, TR4, MGB, MG TD or TF, even Jaguar E TYpe to a show and being parked next to eleven other identical examples

AND there is sufficient room behind the seats, move the fronts forward, add two pairs of seat belts, and one can make this into a 2+2 for two small kids. Or maybe just a big dog.

It is in beautiful condition, clearly hundreds of hours of work went into the prep work, and with contemporary performance, one can even enjoy the proverbial back roads for pleasurable driving.

(and by the way, hadn't driven a Sunbeam in decades, went for a drive, INCREDIBLE....lively engine and I suspect this engine puts out tons more power than stock....excellent ride, shifting, and overall driving. Far better than a Healey, MG, Triumph, or most any other period British sports car)
