"I'll do it later never owned a Bentley" The first Bentley with a 12-cylinder. Are you thinking of the Arnage or Azure? Neejoh, I'm talking about the 'entry-level' model! The Bentley Continental GT. We were in love from the moment it was born at the Volkswagen concern. And not only us; with a capacity of 9,000 units a year, Bentley can barely keep up with demand. And that was visible; at our place in the Gooi, on an average Saturday, there are more of them than at Bentley Leusden in the showroom!
Our Continental GT Speed is from 2007 and, despite being hidden under those sleek and solid German wings, is fortunately still with more than enough British flair. We're quite happy with it too, because the Phaeton's air suspension and the engine from the Touareg are just right. Very good indeed! The 6.0-litre W12 block got two more turbos bolted on at Crewe. Was also highly necessary for normal merging, James! The 750 Nm of torque is already available at 1,600 RPM. So in normal driving, the Flying B just idles. And that driving;You put on your jacket and turn on your Sublime FM. Because only the real gentlemen drive Bentley.
But then when you want to pedal, she loves it!!! In 4.1 seconds you're already driving faster than average on the left and she goes to 326 km/h with two fingers in her grill. Consumption is very favourable, for saving your Airmiles. But, then you have something! The name GT is not for nothing, because what a wonderful travel car it is.... A cruising speed of 170 (six refuelling and four fines) and you'll be in Monaco in no time!
Ours is of course a little éxtra special, because her colour scheme is exactly as it should be... Her British racing green together with the dark hazelnut-coloured interior is exactly what a British-oriented anarchist is looking for. Plus, her previous (second) owner ticked all the boxes on the order list, including the Mulliner option. Something about even more luxury and spoilt cows. Recently been to the doctor for her total service, now looking for a new owner. Will we see you soon?
