It?s never too early to start thinking about cold weather and snow,
especially if you live in the Snow Belt states. We have a classic
SUV at MotoeXotica Classic Cars that is already outfitted for
snowflakes and would make a useful addition to most collections.
Made for just eight months to bridge the gap between the
International-Harvester Scout 800A and the Scout II, this rarely
seen & complete Scout 800B was made in October 1970 at
International?s Fort Wayne, Indiana (VIN code G) factory. This SUV
presents wonderfully with an older, frame-off restoration performed
by a professional shop. Finished in white over yellow the truck?s
paint and trim, including black and white Sno Star graphics, are in
overall excellent order, the bodywork is straight and solid. The
chrome front and heavy-duty rear step bumper with a trailer hitch
fit tightly to the body. The engine bay is extremely tidy, the
battery appears new and the cargo area behind the seats looks great
with a full-size spare tire and body-colored wheel. This Scout
rolls on Cooper Discoverer R/T tires, size 235/75R15 at every
corner. Each one is mounted to a yellow steel wheel with factory
metal caps. The tires are in very good order, the wheels are in
good, original condition. In front are Warn manual locking hubs.
This Scout rides a 100-inch wheelbase and has a 4,700 GVWR. Under
the hood is a 232 CID inline six-cylinder Power Thrift engine with
a rebuilt Holley 1920 single-barrel carburetor. Backing the motor
is a Borg-Warner T-39 three-speed automatic transmission and a Dana
20 two-speed transfer case, followed by a Dana-Spicer 3.73:1 rear
differential with Powr-Lok. New parts include a thermostat, points,
condenser, distributor cap, rotor and spark plugs. The original
starter has been rebuilt. Driver convenience features include dual,
10-gallon fuel tanks. Left fuel gauge works while right gauge is
inop. Up front is a Meyer ST-78 Hi-Lo snowplow with new, smoother
snow-rolling action. Its plowing width is 65 to 70 inches and a
6.5-foot length. It has 2 factory levers on the dash which are in
good working order. The plow can be removed as well. Inside, the
black bucket seats are in very good order. Most of the cabin is
body-colored in yellow with a white headliner that is part of the
cap. A two-spoke steering wheel faces the driver. A yellow dash,
topped with black padding contains a full array of gauges and the
yellow metal door liners look great. The center console has two
levers, one for the automatic transmission and the other for the
Dana transfer case. The last of the 800 series was the 800B,
available for less than eight months, from August 1970 until March
1971, before it was replaced with the Scout II. Other than minor
cosmetic details (primarily chrome headlight bezels instead of
matte black), it was identical to the 800A. Late in 1970, the
Sno-Star package appeared (only with the six-cylinder engine),
developed especially for snowplow usage. Competition to this Scout
in 1971 included Chevrolet?s K5 Blazer, Ford?s Bronco, GMC?s K5
Jimmy, Jeep?s Cherokee and Toyota?s Land Cruiser. If you?ve been
looking for a classic Binder, this is an excellent candidate. Come
by MotoeXotica Classic Cars to check out this Scout but do it
quickly because Internationals do not linger here. VIN:
