1957 CHEVROLET NOMAD Hawkins 57 The truly iconic 1957 Chevrolet
Nomad is presented here exhibiting exemplary quality, performance,
drivability, and comfort. The exterior is finished in laser
straight mirror like black and the interior is presented in
complimenting red with black. Exceptional features abound
throughout this professional build, focusing on retaining all the
classic lines of the Nomad, yet providing modern performance.
Starting with the chassis that was carefully modified, deleting all
superficial holes and welds, it was smoothed before being
powder-coated in black. The chassis was then fitted with rack &
pinion steering, 4-wheel Wilwood power disc brakes, a powder coated
Ford 9" rear end that has been expertly tubbed to accommodate the
beefy 245/40/R20 rear tires, custom design fuel tank that features
an inboard "tool box" under the rear cargo area carpeting, which
also includes the battery, additionally, all new suspension
components and new 3" stainless steel seamless exhaust. Noted
engine builder Clay Smith built the stout Corvette 454ci LS-6
engine, with a focus on performance and reliability. Full engine
build specifications data sheet accompany the sale. A moderate cam
provides for the sounds that attest to the performance. Compression
was kept at 9.2:1 in order to utilize pump fuel yet provide
response sufficient to cruise the highways. Moderate use of
polished billet aluminum dresses the engine. A billet aluminum
front runner supports the AC, power steering and belt system. All
engine wiring and hoses are tastefully concealed to present a very
clean appearance. The custom design core support for the radiator
also houses dual electric cooling fans and integrated transmission
cooler. A custom designed front cowl support finishes the clean
look under the hood. The transmission is a 4L60 with overdrive. The
stunning interior, utilizing OEM styling and materials is
exceptionally comfortable and beautiful. The era correct styled
steering wheel sits on a custom steering column. The center console
features the transmission shifter, power window switches, AC
controls and a convenient beverage holder. Windows are power assist
as well as the driver and passenger vent windows. The dash has been
retrofitted with Dakota VHX-57C gauges and a radio that features
USB connection and cell phone capability. All wiring is expertly
installed and easily identified. All glass is brand new. A subtle
touch is the delete of the glove box, creating a smooth dash. AC
ducts are placed in the dash and center console. The body is all
original rust free components that was fitted with steel rails
backing the "spear" trim molding to assure optimum fit and
stability. The front wheel openings feature custom inner fenders.
The interior is completely lined with Dynamat to assure a
comfortable and quiet environment for driver and passengers. ***If
