Vehicle Description
1980 Chevrolet C10 Pickup
It's no secret that Chevrolet builds some of the most celebrated
trucks on the planet. From the AK era forward, every generation has
found a solid following and, eventually, firm footing in the
collector car world. Over the past few years, we've featured plenty
of vintage, ground-pounding bowties, and this righteous stepside is
just the latest in a series of sweet C/K head turners.
This consignment is the recipient of a full frame-off restoration.
During which time many new parts were put on, the body was done
over, and the engine replaced...with a monster. If you are a fast
truck fan, love deep yellow, fancy air suspension, oversize wheels
with low profile tires, and desire to own something where you can
turn the key and go showing or racing, this C-10 has your name on
its license plate.
Due to varying emissions control devices being removed, please
check with your state, county, local or provincial motor vehicle
department to verify the ability to legally register this vehicle
in your area***
Exterior
Mesmerizing yellow coats every corner of this fleetside truck, and
it's a very high quality job. Wonderful attention to detail in the
prep work separates the men from the boys. Chrome front bumper and
grille/headlight configuration have been retained, as have the
mirrors and shiny chrome rear bumper, but all else has been shaved.
A reverse scooped hood has been added for that racer look and
thanks to the air ride this truck can attain nearly any stance that
your heart desires. Custom billet wheels, 24x8.5 in the front and
26x15 in the rear are wrapped in rubber band thin performance tires
for the just right look. The bed has been modified to accommodate
the travel of the rear suspension as well as the monster rear tires
and we note the near perfect yellow paint and the air tank for the
suspension. I personally would be inclined to not put anything in
it, it's that nice!
Interior
The wonderful customization continues with the nicely padded
plastic and leather door panels. Smooth plastic in blue with shiny
door releases front these panels with padded blue door pulls with a
strip of billet finishing off the bottom. Slipping inside, high
back bucket seats courtesy of a 2021 Silverado welcome us and other
passengers with a small blue plastic and leather console in the
center. These buckets are covered in a blue leather with a
nicediamond pleated design sewn into the inserts. The original dash
with its blue padded topper holds a bevy of Dakota Digital gauges
all within a brushed aluminum panel and the factory black insert
with knobs and slides below. A Flaming River polished steering
column holds the custom billet exterior wheel matching blue rimmed
steering wheel atop. Mounted within the dash we also see an
AM/FM/CD stereo for your auditory pleasure. Blue carpeting floods
the floors and above is a diamond pleated headliner hanging tightly
and proud with integral speakers throughout.
Drivetrain
Sitting proudly in the cavernous engine bay is a 6.0 Liter LS V8
that our consignor states was removed from aZ06 Corvette. A 4L60E
transmission thatis a 4-speed overdrive automatic follows closely
behind. A 12 bolt rear axle rounds out the package nicely. A shout
out to the twin cone filter style induction system that has been
fabbed up for the mightyLS mill.
Undercarriage
The term "clean as a whistle" applies here, as with any restoration
is done with quality in mind. Air bag rear suspension with a ladder
bar arrangement, twin Flowmaster mufflers with dual exhaust that
attaches to the snake-like headers and an independent front
suspension with airbags are just the beginning. All black steel
provides the backbone for this truck and we see Wilwood power disc
brakes on all 4 corners. Just clean and well thought out.
Drive-Ability
Firing this truck up, I was met with a surprising roar, enough so
that the bovine population of Morgantown, PA took time from their
grazing to investigate my antics. It certainly accelerates smoothly
and quickly, stops on a dime and cruises very nicely to boot. All
functions were working just perfectly and it's a blast to adjust
the air ride suspension while navigating our test track.
A fine overall restoration and customization job and showing near
showroom for the exterior and interior along with plenty of custom
touches. The new engine is all blinged out, and the power output is
simply...well fabulous! I could use my pickup line right now, but I
digress, and will just say a classic truck will not get much better
in our Hallowed Halls than this baby. Ready to haul anything, even
some serious ass!
