Vehicle Description
1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Convertible For Sale - Ultra Rare
Documented L78 Convertible LMC is very proud to offer for sale this
1970 Chevrolet Chevelle L78 Convertible In 1970, Chevelle SS buyers
could opt for four engine choices: the 396/350-hp L34, the
396/375-hp L78, the 454/360-hp LS5, or the monster 454/450-hp
LS6.With so many choices, buyers who were sold on big-block
horsepower usually opted for the massive LS5 454 (360 hp) or LS6
454 (450 hp). Other buyers who gravitated to the proven 396 usually
checked the box for the 396/350-horse option. Not even mention the
396/375 L78, which was being phased out by GM in 1970 and was only
offered as an option for several months. While it may have been
overshadowed by the arrival of the now legendary LS6 454/450 HP
big-block V-8, the L78 remained as potent as ever, packing beefy
forged internals, a radical solid lifter camshaft, a Holley 780 CFM
4-barrel on a Winters aluminum intake manifold, free-flowing heads
and one of the sweetest exhaust notes of any contemporary muscle
machine. This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS L78 Convertible offered
here for sale is one of very few ever built and one of only a
handful with bullet proof GM documentation! Ordered new in code 75
Cranberry Red with white racing stripes with a white vinyl top,
complemented by a black vinyl bucket seat interior. Powered by the
L78 396/375 HP big-block V-8 engine that features a M21 4-speed
transmission package and 4:10 Posi traction rear axle. Equipped
with power steering, power front disc brakes, power top, console,
engine block heater, f41 suspension and cowl induction hood. Due to
the rarity of this beautiful Chevelle L78 Convertible, it has
warranted a complete frame-off restoration. The body and paint is
exceptional having been wet sanded and polished. The engine
compartment is detailed correctly as it left the factory. The
undercarriage has been painted in the correct satin black finish
and all suspension components detailed. This is one highly restored
example! The most important aspect of this car is that it comes
with GM of Canada documentation proving how it left the factory
when new. Documented examples are extremely hard to come by making
this example a great addition to any collection! Additional
