Derived from the best-selling pickup truck line the F-Series, the
F-100 is a light-duty full-sized pickup truck. Although Ford did
produce heavier-duty lines of trucks, the F-100 was the ½ ton
version of these larger trucks. Currently in its fourteenth
generation, the F-Series has withstood test of time and continues
to be the reliable truck that many depend on. The fifth generation
of this F-Series line was produced from 1967 to 1972. Built on the
same platform as the fourth generation, these trucks had sharper
styling lines, a larger cab, and expanded engine options. Three
trim levels were available during this production generation even
though the names changed in 1970. The base trim became Custom, and
the Custom Cab became the Sport Custom. Realistically, the 1972
model year was essentially a carry-over from previous years before
the F-Series was replaced by a new generation for the 1973 year.
Presented here is a 1972 Ford F-100 Stepside short bed pickup
truck. Although this is not an all-original truck, it has retained
many of its original features. Sporting a bright blue paint with
chrome wheels, this truck is subtly sharp. There are minimal chrome
accents and a hand-painted tailgate that compliment the wood bed.
The interior has been updated as well and includes leather bucket
seats, custom door panels and center console, aftermarket gauges,
and Kentwood stereo and speakers. These updates have been
tastefully completed and we can only imagine positively impact the
ability to travel in this truck. The main upgrade that this truck
has undergone is to the powertrain. Under the hood you will find a
5.0L V8 HO that has been paired with a rebuilt C6 automatic
transmission. A new Edelbrock 600 CFM carburetor and new 150-amp
alternator have also been installed. Other noteworthy options
include air conditioning, power windows, power locks, power brakes,
and a custom exhaust. Noted with 5k miles since the rebuild, this
truck has a lot of life left to be enjoyed. It is not often that
you find a truck that has the step side body styling and although
this specific truck has been modified, it is still a rare find. It
is not uncommon for trucks of this generation to be modified to the
likes of the owner and we agree that this F-100 includes quite a
few updates that most enthusiasts would appreciate. If you are
looking for a truck that combines the nostalgia of yester-year with
modern technology and drivability, we hope you look no further that
than Ford. Please call if interested or e-mail with specific
questions. Thank you for looking.
