Eastern Shore Classic Cars is excited to represent this truly
classic 1954 Chevy 3100 Pickup. The 54 brought new styling to the
Chevy Pickup line as it departed from a style that had been in
existed since 1947. This new style was only available for two
years, which makes this classic all the more collectable. The 54
featured a distinctively large triple bar grill with a horizontal
bar dividing them in the middle. The parking lights were now
incorporated into the grill for a more "modern touch" for its time.
The inner bars were painted in a contrasting color giving the grill
greater depth. The cargo box was changed adding higher walls rather
than the traditional sloping design. The spare tire was mounted on
the outside. New for 54 as well, was the one piece slightly curved
windshield. Mechanically, the 235.5-cid six was an upgraded engine,
with higher compression, insert bearings, and high-pressure
lubrication, (it had been introduced on Powerglide-equipped
passenger cars in 1953). This truck has a 3-on-the-tree manual
transmission. This was also the last year for running boards as
they would be moved inside in the later 55 models. The 1954 and
early 1955 design are a unique, little-seen truck, marking the
short period between the first postwar redesign of 1947 and the
colorful, trucks of late 1955 and beyond. The owner states that
this is an older restoration. As such, there is some minor bubbling
of the paint here and there as evidenced in the photos. There is no
appreciable rust to be found. They have used the truck on occasion
rather than having it sit in the barn wasting away. It has been
featured in local parades and local TV commercials. It starts right
up and is ready to drive. If you are looking for a period correct
pickup that will require minimal work to return to pristine
condition, look no further. The vehicle is stored in southern VA
and is offered at a very reasonable $26,000.00. Please contact Hank
