International Harvester developed the Scout as a precursor of more
sophisticated SUV's to come. The only other 4-wheel drive
recreational vehicles offered at the time were Jeeps. The Scouts
became known for their ability to go anywhere and have high
durability. They are a key part of automotive history being
considered the first SUV. The Scout 800 was the replacement for the
80, it came with upgraded heating system and bucket seats.
This '68 Scout is truly one of a kind! It sits on a full C4
Corvette Chassis and is powered by a L98 fuel injected V8 paired
with a rebuilt automatic transmission. The builder did an excellent
job with fitment and making this a reliable driver. It rides on 96
Corvette wheels. Other highlights include triple pass aluminum
radiator, independent rear suspension, rebuilt rear end, push
button start, power steering and power brakes. If you're looking
for a unique vehicle that demands attention, this is the car for
you!
