The all aluminum engine produced 220 HP and was built with forged pistons to handle the extra power put out by the turbo charger. In order to handle the additional heat, external oil coolers were added for both the engine and transmission. As stated in the original advertisements, the 944 Turbo engine received “30 changes” over the NA 944.
