For Sale: 1973 Alfa Romeo 1600 Junior Zagato in Nunspeet, Gelderland

Vehicle Description

Alfa Romeo Junior Zagato 1600

An absolute rarity. Completely original. Kept in a perfect shape. Including recent engine overhaul and perfect driving characteristics: behold one of the best versions of the legendary Alfa 105 series that was made. Only 402 of the iconic Alfa Romeo Junior Zagato 1600 have been delivered worldwide, but we dare to say that only a few are as stunning as this one. In fact, it may be the only one this cool. What are you waiting for?

History

This extremely smooth white version was registered for the first time in Germany and has always remained loyal to the county. That’s exactly why the German registration is untouched after all these years. Also original are the beautiful paintwork, floor (never welded, in the best condition we’ve ever seen!), carpets and steering wheel. Only a few of these Alfa Juniors are delivered in white, making the classic even more unique. The sides were recently repainted for the best possible result. The rest of the car is exactly the same as when it left the Italian factory back in November 1973. Just wow.

Exterior

You can recognize a Zagato design with your eyes closed. The gently sloping roofline with an abruptly cut rear and strong wedge shape are Zagato’s trademark in particular. The legendary designer didn’t make an exception for the limited Alfa Junior Zagato 1600. Despite the sporty layout, a rear spoiler turns out to be unnecessary. Zagato has got your back though: an electrically adjustable rear window can be opened while driving just enough to realize an improved airflow on the inside. And maybe on the outside as well?

Interior

The interior of the 1600 also remains in excellent condition. The design is sleek, while the black leather upholstery brings contrast to the white exterior in a perfect way. The characteristic wooden steering wheel has 3 aluminum spokes and is just as beautiful and original as the rest of the Alfa cockpit. After taking a comfortable seat, you’d swear to have entered a time machine. Unbelievable that this classic Alfa Romeo is already 47 years old!

Technique

The Alfa Junior Zagato 1600 is a true gem to look at and to drive with. As the model name suggests, the 4-cylinder Twin Cam has a capacity of (almost) 1,600 cc. There are double carburetors fitted to the in-line engine and it’s linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox. 5 gears isn’t much by today’s standards? We bet you will have more fun with this old school transmission than with any modern gearbox. The feeling, the sound, the overall experience; this is why we love Italian classics so much! And we know we’re not the only ones…

Cordiali Saluti,
Prins Classics
