"The exterior design of the 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS represented
a major change from previous years. The long sloping nose with
horizontal headlights was dropped in favor of round headlights
mounted on either side of a smaller grille. The grille was extended
and moved forward to cover most of each front fender, creating a
longer hood. The body sides were sculpted into flying buttress
panels that extended down and around to the car's rear end, which
gave it an appearance similar to European sports cars. Vertical
taillights were inset into rounded tailfins on either side, making
them one inch wider than other models at their widest point. On all
models, sport wheels and larger tires were fitted as standard
equipment but had been optional features in earlier years."

This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 originally delivered to Baker
Chevrolet Inc. in Beaver PA has remained in the same ownership for
the last 20 plus years. Finished in Cranberry Red (paint code 75)
with black stripes. This Chevelle SS is well documented with
original window sticker, build sheet and protect-o-plate.
The interior is fitted with a front bench seat with black vinyl
upholstery and believed to be original. The overall interior is in
very good condition with no signs of excessive wear or fading. This
Chevelle SS appears to have had one older repaint in the original
color, at some point the underside of the Chevelle was heavily
undercoated but it appears that the floor pans and quarter panels
are original to the car.
The paint presents well from the Cowl Induction hood to the rear
bumper. There are the typical road nicks and imperfections to be
expected with a 52-year-old vehicle. There is an area of minor
corrosion on the lower right front fender and rear valance below
the window which is identified in the pictures. Aside from these
blemishes this Chevelle is an exceptional example of an unmolested
iconic car manufactured in what many believe to be the pinnacle
year for American muscle.
The numbers matching 396 cubic inch motor, factory rated at 350
horsepower is mated to the correct 4-speed Muncie transmission.
This Chevelle pulls through the gears swiftly and powerfully while
coming to a quick stop when needed with the power front disc
brakes.
Every collector or enthusiasts needs a 1970 Chevelle SS 396 in
their garage, after long ownership this one is now available.
