1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible - Final Year of the Big Body
Convertible - 500ci V8 with Automatic Transmission - Black over Tan
Interior - Power Convertible Top - Power Steering, Brakes, Windows,
and Locks - Factory AC - Recent Service: New Tires, New Top, New
Brakes Being classified as at or near the top of the production
line at Cadillac, the Eldorado is known for its luxury prowess.
Initially debuting in 1952 and manufactured until 2002, with over
twelve generations of vehicles, this model has created its own
trademark among the Cadillac family. As a contraction of two
Spanish words, the Eldorado translates as the gilded (i.e., golden)
one and there is no debate that these vehicles are uniquely
special. Noted as part of the ninth generation, the 1976 model was
the final year of the Eldorado convertible and was heavily promoted
by General Motors as the last American convertible. Documentation
mentions that some 14,000 would be sold, many purchased as
investments, and the final 200 convertibles were designated as
Bicentennial Editions. These special edition models were identical,
painted white with a dual red/blue pinstripe along the upper
bodyside and inside as well as had a commemorative plaque mounted
to the dash. When Cadillac reintroduced the Eldorado convertible
for the 1984 model year, many customers who purchased the 1976
convertibles as investments felt that they had been deceived and
launched an unsuccessful class action lawsuit against General
Motors. Regardless of whether the claim of the 1976 Eldorado being
the last American convertible is true or not, this specific model
year is an icon. With only minor styling changes from previous
models, the 1976 Eldorado received a new grille, a small Cadillac
script on the hood face, revised taillamp lenses and new black
painted wheel covers. Additional standard features included power
door locks, a 6-way power adjustable seat, AM/FM stereo radio and
steel-belted radial tires. Presented here is the final year of the
Big Body convertible Cadillac Eldorado. Configured in a black over
tan color combination, this Eldorado is equipped with tons of
options that all Cadillac owners are accustomed to, like a power
convertible top, power steering, power brakes, power windows, and
power locks. Under the hood is a 500ci V8 with automatic
transmission that provide ample power to get this cruiser down the
road. The previous owner notes that this convertible has also
received a recent service which included new tires, a new top, and
new brakes. Whether you are looking to add another investment to
your collection or are looking for a drop-top luxury cruiser, this
Cadillac is ready for its next adventure. Although it might not be
the extremely exclusive Bicentennial Edition, the Eldorado
available here is special none the same. We hope that you consider
this Cadillac as your next purchase. Please call if interested or
e-mail with specific questions. Thank you for looking.
