Vehicle Description
CPR Classic is excited to offer this 1960 Porsche 356B Coupe that
has been lightly modified in an outlaw fashion. This example wears
its original color combination of Ivory over a black leatherette
interior and presents in excellent condition throughout.
Modifications and additions to the car include a 1.6-liter
flat-four sourced from a Porsche 912, 15? Coddington Rudge-style
wheels finished in Satin Silver with Avon CR6ZZ tires, Marchal
Equilux headlights, Hella fog lights, an Abarth-style muffler, a
Nardi steering wheel, a T6 shifter, and Blaupunkt Frankfurt
radio.
The car received the majority of the restoration work that it now
wears in 2009. Prior to the car being repainted, the floors were
replaced along with the longitudinals, battery box bottom, and door
bottoms. Following metalwork, the car was refinished in its correct
shade of Ivory. The car's brightwork was re-chromed or replaced as
needed during reassembly.
The car went through a major service in March of 2020 including
replacing the wheel bearings, adjusting the valves, rebuilding the
carburetors, and installing an overhauled transmission. New bronze
front axle link pin and king pin bushings, replacement suspension
bushings, new shocks, and a new steering stabilizer were also
installed.
The interior was refinished in black vinyl to include the front
seats, dash, door panels, and oatmeal square weave carpet. The
interior has a 400mm Nardi steering and overhauled gauges by Palo
Alto Speedometer.
The replacement 1.6-liter engine includes a distributor that was
rebuilt and modified by Ed Fall at Vintage Werks, and additional
equipment includes an electric fuel pump and fuel pressure
regulator, an Optima 6v battery, Knecht mesh filters, a
vintage-look Blue Bosch coil, a Precision Matters full flow oil
pump cover, a Mocal secondary oil cooler in the left-rear fender,
and a modern spin-on oil filter.
This lovely 356B presents an opportunity to own a well-sorted,
outstanding driving Porsche 356 that has received light
modifications to enhance the driving experience. The aesthetic
modifications that the car wears are tasteful and offer a period
feel. If you are in the market for a 356 that will be a wonderful
driver and an example that can be shown at PCA events, cars and
coffee, and other gatherings, this is a must-consider 356!
