This 1973 Pontiac Firebird has a red-hot look, and as you dig
deeper, you'll see this has been upgraded to Super Duty status with
a 455ci V8. You also have details like clean coupe lines, a
Bluetooth radio, and the control of a four-speed. It all makes for
an attractive Pontiac that lives up to its aggressive style.
The trim tag tells us this is a factory Buccaneer Red car, but a
refresh later in life means it retains a nice gloss and shine
today. And the way the large doors fit and the rear bumper shines
will make you show this full package off with pride. Of course, the
other reason why you'll be taking this one out every weekend is
that it's fun to showcase such a mean style. This was the final
year where the front end really led the way with two big grilles
that looked like they wanted to inhale all the lesser cars ahead.
And the three-piece rear spoiler seemed like it was race-inspired.
This red devil also has some key upgrades. The Rally II wheels now
accommodate a seriously wide set of rear tires. It gives the coupe
an aggressive forward-leaning stance, and at the same time, draws
added attention to where the power meets the pavement in the rear.
And that upgraded hood has an iconic shaker air element on top that
cleanly announces the big motor within (more on that in a
moment.)
The white interior looks terrific against the red for a touch of
premium to go with your performance. And while the upholstery, door
panels, and headliner look bright, high traffic res like the
carpeting and steering wheel stay black so this can feel like a
proper driver. There are nice classic details, including the
wood-like dash trim and working courtesy light package. You'll also
spot well-integrated upgrades, like how the glove box has the
AM/FM/CD stereo with USB and Bluetooth for the best in driving
music.) There are classic driver pieces, like the Pontiac sports
steering wheel and crisp readouts with the large speedo and tach.
These are joined by SunPro auxiliary gauges in the dash and a Hurst
floor shifter.
The engine bay has a clean style so that everyone can get a good
look. The Super Duty became the ultimate Firebird when it debuted
in 1973, and a proper tribute needs a big motor under the hood. In
fact, while this upgraded block started life as a correct 455
cubic-inch unit, this one has been bored .60 over to 468ci total.
You've also got a four-barrel carburetor, a high-rise intake, new
plug wires, and a sweet-sounding H-pipe dual exhaust. The motor
fires up eagerly with the kind of zeal that gets your heart
pumping. And the four-speed manual transmission feeds a 3.42
Positraction rear end for confident full control. Plus, recent
front suspension work, newer rear shocks, power steering, a newer
power brake booster, and front disc brakes make for a poised
driving total package.
This Super Duty tribute has the style, features, and serious power
you really want. So don't miss the big red coupe that can own the
blacktop. Call today!!!
