This Camaro checks all the boxes! If you had a time machine, could
you order a new one any better than this? The colors and options
are amazing. Anytime you find a 4 speed with air is rare,
especially a big block convertible!
EXTERIOR: The body is absolutely straight and fits really well. No
blisters, or dents. According to the fender tag is was repainted
it's original Matador red color. It's smooth and glossy. There are
a few minor imperfections if you look for them. The SS stripe was
painted on correctly. The Rally Sport includes hideaway lights,
trim on top of doors and relocated reverse lights. Up front it has
a spoiler and optional bumper guards. The chrome looks new-
bumpers, ice cube trays, emblems, mirrors, door handles. In back it
has the blacked out SS tail panel, new tail lights, bumper, bumper
guards and gas cap. New 14 inch rally wheels and trim. New BF
Goodrich tires. The white convertible top is in excellent shape.
The jambs are clean, weather strips were replaced. The windshield
looks new.
INTERIOR: Beautiful pearl white deluxe interior, it is correct
according to the trim tag. It looks like it's all been replaced-
the seat upholstery, molded door panels, the rear side panels. Nice
carpet on the floor, completeset of original gauges. Factory center
console is excellent, it has the factory gauge package with a Hurst
shifter sticking out of it. In front of me is a factory tachometer,
factory Am-Fm radio and a deluxe wheel on a tilt column. It's in
great shape- new dash pad, knobs, lenses, vents, heater control
panel are in excellent shape.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Correct dated and coded 396 with optional 350
horsepower. It has 3 very desirable factory options- air
conditioning, power steering and power brakes. The motor is clean
and stock. It has reproduction chrome valve covers and air cleaner.
Things look clean, proper and orderly.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The trunk compartment is complete. It has a Wide
Oval redline tire on a rally wheel for a spare. The jack is chrome
plated. The trunk mat, decals, weatherstrip and well liner were
replaced. The metal is clean and was spatter painted. It has the
"shaker cans" that the convertibles come with.
UNDERSIDE: Very respectable underneath. All solid metal, a couple
of floor pan sections were welded in. The front end was rebuilt-
springs, shocks, bushings, ball joints were replaced. The fuel
tank, straps and sending unit were replaced. It has a dual exhaust
with the proper transverse muffler. Brakes were redone, it has disc
in front. E-brake cables are hooked up. Looking up at the motor
it's clean Chevy orange, starter looks fresh. It has a Muncie
4-speed trans and a correct 12-bolt rear end in back with 3.07
gears.
The ultimate 68 Camaro? In a lot of ways I think it is. Options and
colors are very desirable! I drove it home and it ran and drove
great. I called the guy I bought it from and thanked him as I was
driving.
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure
your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do
a walk around video that explains the car's condition in
detail.
**These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a
particular car make an appointment with a salesman to see that car.
Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the
showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded and you
