For Sale: 1968 Shelby GT500 in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Vehicle Description

This 1968 Shelby GT500 King of the Road has a 428 Super Cobra Jet engine, which was the most powerful engine created at the time. If you're looking for the ultimate trump card in survivor cars, then you have just hit the jackpot! You're looking at a real-deal 1 of 404 that were ever made. This has the original numbers matching 428 Cobra Jet motor. This model is iconic as this was also the first year that Shelby made a convertible. It's in the correct Wimbledon White and original interior.

Everyone already loves a Wimbledon White Mustang but having it on the King of the Road (KR) with a convertible top makes this one an object other collectors will lust after. Giving a nod to America's racing legacy, along with being a Shelby hallmark, the blue rocker triple stripe adds the perfect color combo to this masterpiece. With the custom fiberglass hood; functional side scoops; Lucas fog lights; all the snake-bitten badging; the molded rear deck lid; and sequential taillights. There is no mistaking this Shelby classic.

The black bucket seat interior reflects the Shelby cars moving upmarket towards the luxury buyers. Features like wood grained appliques on the door, dash, steering wheel and center console with the coiled snake emblem embodied on the armrest reflect the Mustang's deluxe interior with all of the special additions. The GT500KR received one of Ford's most potent V8s ever, the 428 cubic inch Cobra Jet. This looks fantastically original in the engine bay with the correct Ford blue paint on the block and the Cobra valve covers that brag about their '67 LeMans victory. And because this is such a time capsule of an iconic sports car, of course the motor is original.

This car was created to be enjoyed, and so it remains easy to maneuver with power steering, front disc brakes, and the factory-optioned C6 three-speed automatic transmission. Completing this package is the grip of modern BF Goodrich T/A radials on those iconic 15-inch 10-spoke wheels. A survivor GT500KR in the perfect color and anointed by the car's creator. This is the ultimate collectible Shelby Mustang. You may want to call today, because you'll regret when it's gone tomorrow!
