If you know anything about the Convertible disappearance in the GM product lines from the mid 70's that lasted nearly a decade, then you know about the ASC and H&E Companies. The Story goes as GM could not fill orders, the General had no choice but to seek outside assistance to complete their vehicles or fail miserably and leave clients hanging high and dry whom were already paying a very steep price for the Luxury Vehicle Choices by the grand automaker. Ex: A 1984 Olds Toronado Custom Brougham Coupe listed for over $17,500. back then and That was BEFORE THE CONVERTIBLE CONVERSION. ASC (American Sunroof Company) was their 'On The Money' Coach Builder whom had the initial orders, though production number was low between the top three GM brands; Cadillac, Buick, and Oldsmobile. (Oldsmobile being the least produced of the three) .. It was still too many cars, and too much to do to alter and deliver vehicles as promised to their retail customers within their dealer network. Hess and Eisenhardt, the seasoned premiere builders in this field were also known for their quality work on our US Presidential Limos as well as major designs were called to action. Their actual build numbers were very low across the GM lines for the few years the Convertibles were offered. This particular car IS a Hess and Eisenhardt quality built Beauty! H&E cars are easily identified by their top shape as it resembles the body lines of the actual roof of the car as a coupe while raised. It was owned by 4 proud owners over the years and surely loved and cared for very well as it shows. It currently is rolling on Real Tru-Spokes Wheels wrapped in Vogue Wht/Gld Band Tires.
