This 1973 Jeep Commando Restomod has a more unique style than its
CJ siblings But you can also tell the invested plenty to make sure
this lives up to the name go-anywhere reputation of the Jeep name.
With fuel-injected V8 power, 4x4 prowess, a full roll cage, robust
paint, and plenty of off-road-ready upgrades, this is a distinct
way to also be capable.
A true Jeep Commando is quite a rare find. They were only available
for two years without the Jeepster name attached. And more than the
moniker, the Commando had its own new front end and some unique
sheet metal that made it one of the most distinctive Jeeps in
decades. What makes this one even more distinct is the upgraded
robust style. The blackout front end looks mean with the big steel
bumper and Smittybilt 10,000 X20 winch. In fact, most of your
favorite upgrades are in black, like the 17-inch wheels, side
steps, tow hitch rear bumper, and the mount for the full-size spare
and integrated shovel. Even the tops are black... we use plural
because you have plenty of options. This has a nice Bestop full
soft top that lets you take advantage of the roll-up side windows
to enclose this Jeep. Plus, a black hardtop even comes with the
sale but will need some reconfiguration and/or hardware to secure
it to the body. Against all this darkness is an olive green paint.
Jeeps just look great in green because of their military history,
and this is as robust as an American soldier because the finish is
actually liner paint. So overall you have the look of something
distinction and a style that tells the world that this classic is a
useful adventurer.
The interior is the right mix of form and function where the floors
are fully Rhino-lined. And the seats have newer Bestop covers done
in durable vinyl. The upgraded full roll cage adds strength to this
classic and gives you a place to mount the Bluetooth speakers.
There are fun classic details, like the stock speedometer. But what
you'll like best is how this has been upgraded to be a better
driver. The sports steering wheel, tilt column, B&M shifter,
and AutoMeter gauges give you a commanding driving position in this
Commando.
The best upgrade of all is under the hood. This classic Jeep now
has a very modern 4.8-liter GM Vortec fuel-injected V8. And there
are nice supporting upgrades everywhere from the aluminum radiator
to the exhaust headers. It makes for a terrific package that gives
you serious power and modern consistency. Real Jeeps are the
off-road kings, so the stout TH400 three-speed automatic
transmission is linked to a Dana 20 twin-stick transfer case for
true 4x4 ability. The high ground clearance, Dana 44 Detroit Locker
rear, Chromoly axles, Alcan leaf springs, skid plates, and Cooper
Discoverer STT tires are all part of the rugged nature. But even
when you're just on a milk run, features like power steering, power
brakes, and front discs are always handy.
The sale comes complete with service manuals and spare stock
components. This rare Commando is a true adventurer. It's not sleek
or overdone, and instead, it's just more powerful and robust to be
a true Jeep that truly knows how to turn heads. Call today!!!
