This 1960 Chevrolet Impala Convertible is a great looking and
wonderfully running and driving convertible! When Chevrolet debuted
its passenger car lineup for 1960, they sported a completely new
redesign from the previous year. Sitting atop of Chevy's passenger
car hierarchy was the Impala, with with the Impala Convertible
being the pinnacle. At the nose, the new-look grilles were now oval
shaped and had dual enclosed headlights. New jet-inspired side trim
ran from the doors through the rear, replacing the straight style
trim in 1959. Perhaps the most notable stylistic change occurred at
the tail of the '60 Impala, where the tailfins were flatter and
more reserved. Moreover, the famous "cat-eye" taillights from '59
were replaced in 1960 with the triple style taillights that were
carried forward in the Impala models through the mid-60s.
Interestingly, the Impala Convertible was the only convertible in
Chevy's '60 lineup that could seat more than 2 passengers, which
made it and continues to make it one of the most desirable
Chevrolets of the time. This particular '60 Impala comes to us from
a collector whose family kept the car in their family for over 30
years. Powering this '60 Impala is a 283 Cubic Inch V8 engine
paired with a single 2 barrel carburetor that pushed out 170
horsepower when new. The 283 V8 is backed by a Powerglide automatic
transmission ensuring that anybody can take this 60s cruiser for a
spin around the block. Exhaust exits the 283 V8 powerplant via a
dual exhaust setup which gives this convertible a nice throaty
sound. With power steering getting in and out of tight spaces at
the local car show or drive-in is made much easier. The white vinyl
power convertible top is in fantastic condition and goes up and
down with the simple flick of a switch. The exterior on this Impala
has been refinished correctly in beautiful Roman Red paint, giving
the car a truly classic appearance. A pair of matching fender
skirts are included with the sale of this '60 Chevy. A set of wide
whitewall radial tires paired with full wheel covers improves the
overall driving experience and tastefully completes the exterior
look of this Impala Convertible. The interior on this '60 Impala
Convertible is absolutely stunning! The front and rear bench seats
have been reupholstered in Red and White vinyl with Red and White
Houndstooth cloth inserts. The dash, door panels, and steering
wheel all have a great look and appear to be in their stock
configuration. The dash is equipped with a 120 MPH speedometer,
temperature gauge, fuel gauge, and clock, along with indicator
lights for the generator and oil pressure. This Impala retains its
stock push-button AM radio and a cassette player is mounted neatly
under the dash as well. Whether you are buying your first classic
car or you're adding to you existing Chevy collection, this 1960
Chevrolet Impala Convertible would make an excellent choice. Give
