Vehicle Description
From 1947 through 1955 GM/Chevrolet designed, built and marketed
the "Advance" design pickup which was a light and medium duty
truck. It was built as a larger, stronger and sleeker design of
that from the Pre-WWII trucks. During this time, Chevy trucks were
number one in sales in the US. A few changes happened during this
time frame, most of which were small cosmetic and functionality
differences. The major change was the discontinuation of the 216
6-cylinder and use of the 235, which was essentially the same
engine and design with larger innards... This very unique truck
comes to us from a consignor who says this used to be a forestry or
natural resources truck but still trying to figure out the
particulars. It has a really cool service bed with covered canopy
for the top and back. This is a rare 1-ton truck with a 4-speed,
first gear being a granny gear. The original engine should have
been a 216 but is now the more desirable 235 out of a late 1950's
truck. I cant find any tag on the service bed so I do not know the
manufacturer. Parts of the trucks original engine and numerous
other parts come with the truck as do some hubcaps that were
probably off the original wheels. This truck starts, runs, brakes
and shifts quite well with some smoke at cold start up. This would
make a killer business promotional piece for numerous types of
business. I drove this down the road and I was quite impressed with
its road manners.
