Designed as a pony car to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac
introduced the Firebird in 1967 around the same time Mercury
unleashed the cougar and Chevrolet unveiled the Camaro, which
shared the same F-body platform. In 1969 Pontiac came out with the
Trans Am model which is essentially the Firebird but with better
performance options including a more powerful engine and more
high-end interior options. The Firebird became Pontiacs sole
performance car when the demise of the larger muscle cars like the
GTO started in the 1970s. The Trans Am was sought-after from the
start with limited production numbers of only a few thousand every
year until the mid-1970s when the 2nd generation of the Firebird
Trans Am really took off soaring.
The Firebird and its performance step up model the Trans Am saw
success through the years and survived the country's gas crises and
the new emissions reforms to continue producing some of the most
iconic muscle cars to this day. The 4th generation continued the
changes to the overall look with a focus on aerodynamic styling and
were produced from 1993 until 2002. These new Firebirds featured a
new hood and front fascia with dual intakes, retracting quad
halogen headlights, and circular reverse lamps among many other
changes including safety and design features.
Offered here is a 1999 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am 30th Anniversary
edition convertible featured exclusively in Arctic White exterior
with blue stripes, the same combination as when it first debuted in
1969. Inside is White leather with Blue embroidery to match the
Blue convertible top. Powering this Trans Am is an all-aluminum LS1
Ram Air 5.7L V8 producing a strong 320 horsepower with 335 lb ft of
torque and mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. This Trans Am is
number 166 of the 1600 produced for the 30th Anniversary Edition of
which only 535 were convertibles. Making this one even more special
is the Hurst 6-speed manual transmission. One of just 175
produced!
The Trans Am was already an upgraded Firebird model and this
Anniversary Edition adds even more options including polished
aluminum wheels in blue tint, exterior stripes and badges,
embroidered headrests and floor mats, and an ID emblem of the
production number. The included WS6 performance package features
Ram Air Scoops, low restriction exhaust, upgraded shocks, firm
springs, 17" wheels and a power steering cooler. Other desired
features include A/C, powered locks and windows, power adjustable
seating, powered convertible top, powered antenna, Aero spoiler
package with fog lights, traction control, steering wheel audio
controls, Monsoon 10-speaker audio, and a Delco disc changer in
trunk. Additional add-ons include window tinting on all the glass,
an adjustable Stage 2 coil-over suspension system by RideTech, a
complete Baer T4 performance braking set up with blue 4-piston
calipers and 13" drilled/slotted rotors.
Showing only 5,652 miles on the odometer, this special edition
Firebird Trans Am WS6 Convertible has been wonderfully cared for.
It is a 2-owner vehicle spending most of its life in Nevada only
being driven occasionally. This is an amazing opportunity to own
and celebrate a piece of muscle car legacy that is the Pontiac
Firebird Trans Am. Thank you for your interest and please call with
any questions or come into our showroom for a closer look!
