Vehicle Description
1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 428 Super Cobra Jet Drag Pack - 428ci
Super Cobra Jet V8 - C6 Automatic Transmission - Repainted Red
Exterior With Black Stripes - Black Interior Introduced in April
1964, the Mustang was Ford's answer to attract younger buyers as
the creation of a sporty pony car which competed directly with the
Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird. As the Mustang grew in
popularity, the platform and engine bay were progressively
redesigned to accommodate larger engine blocks. Late in the 1968
model year, Ford introduced the 428ci Cobra Jet FE engine in a
small group of Mustang GTs as well as the 1968 Shelby GT500KR. This
engine designation was a strong performer and indicated the
direction of the soon to be 1969 model. However, GT was deemed
insufficient by Ford to describe this performance, thus the Mach 1
model name was created. The Mach 1 package was only available in
the sports-roof fastback body style, never on a hardtop or
convertible model. Many enthusiasts' resto-mod visual conversions
on Mustangs, but true Mach 1s are only determined specifically by
their VIN. All first-generation Mach 1s are distinguished by the
body style code 63C on the door data plate. The Mach 1 included
both visual and performance-enhancing items such as matte black
hood treatment with hood pins, hood scoop, competition suspension,
chrome pop-open gas cap, revised wheels with Goodyear Polygas
tires, chrome exhaust tips, deluxe interior, and dealer optional
chin spoiler, rear deck spoiler and rear window louvers
(SportSlats). Exhibited here is a 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 which is
presented with a bright red paint and black hood stripes. Complete
with the expected chin and rear deck spoiler, this Mach 1 is the
epitome of muscle car beauty. Under the hood is a 428ci Super Cobra
Jet V8 that has been paired with a C6 automatic transmission. This
Mach 1 is noted to have the optional Drag Pak which included a
remote mounted oil cooler and a higher ratio rear axle gear.
Complete with the standard Cobra Jet hood scoop, the engine
compartment is tidy and packs a punch! Included in the sale of this
Mach 1 is framed documentation that confirms the pedigree of this
Mustang. If you are looking for an iconic muscle car, this Mustang
Mach 1 is ready for you. With just shy of 94k noted miles, this
'pony' has a lot of life and road left to travel. Please call if
