Vehicle Description
This is the right time to get excited. This 2008 Ford F-150 Saleen
S331 Sport Truck is a supercharged 450-horsepower juggernaut that
has a mean-as-midnight look but a nice and comfy loaded interior.
And you know that when a truck like this has it all, it's rarely
available for such an affordable price.
Saleen cars are always both extra sporty and extra rare, and so the
same goes for the trucks, too. In fact, this is #10 of the 400 that
were offered this year. The look is very much on-brand with Saleen
where the special grille, vented hood, form-hugging body kit,
rocker graphics, and tailgate insert all look inspired by pieces
from similar places on a Saleen SC Mustang. And both the front
bumper and rear valance look like the S7 supercar had a pickup
sibling. It has a full midnight style that's quite attractive,
especially because all that darkness makes the special 23-inch
polished alloys pop even more. It's a well-kept two-owner truck,
but you will see signs of responsible enjoyment. But that's kind of
what you really want. A pickup that has this level of power while
still retaining its utility would be wasted as a pure museum
piece.
2008 was an important year for power trucks. It was only the second
year of the S331 Sport Truck, and it was the first time it was
offered with the SuperCrew. All that extra interior space makes
this more practical and will likely keep it even more desirable as
it becomes an appreciated classic. The interior shows off more of
just how well-respected this truck has been. It starts with the
excellent condition of the special seats. You have well-bolstered
supple leather buckets up front with comfy suede-like inserts and
the Saleen logo stitched in the headrest. The door panels and rear
seats also coordinate. There's a long list of features like a power
driver's seat, power windows, cruise control, power locks, keyless
entry/alarm, power steering, power mirrors, tilt/telescopic
steering column, dual airbags, and cold-blowing air conditioning.
The radio is now a modern infotainment touchscreen with
AM/FM/CD/XM, Bluetooth, and a backup camera. And just in case you
forget for a moment how special your truck is, there is a Saleen
numbered plaque on the center console.
There's plenty to look at in the engine bay. The 5.4-liter Triton
is a powerhouse that's from the same Modular V8 family as cars like
the Mustang GT, and so it's a natural fit for Saleen upgrading. The
centerpiece is a Saleen Series VI twin-screw supercharger, and a
respected company like Saleen also upgrades the full package to
make sure it's both durable and powerful. So this truck knows how
to handle its 450 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. In fact, the
suspension is also upgraded with RaceCraft equipment, including
performance struts, springs, a thick front sway bar, and an
upgraded four-wheel disc brake package. Plus, Ford's four-speed
automatic transmission is a stout unit that also knows how to
provide easy overdrive cruising. That kind of versatility is
welcomed in this sports truck with everyday appeal.
Complete with the owner's manual, this is the rare and distinct
supercharged pickup that you never knew could be so affordable.
