Beautiful and rare 1953 Chevrolet 2-door Suburban Resto-mod in first-rate condition. This is a classic looking truck on the outside, equipped with modern improvements in the name of better handling, safety and performance, as well as overall comfort. Traditional, burgundy-colored body with black fenders. Late-1970s Camaro front clip with power steering and front and rear disc brakes. A 12-bolt GM rear end with a 3.08 differential gear ratio. Clam shell-type rear access opening.
The truck runs and drives flawlessly and has approximately 14,300 miles on a rebuilt GM 350 crate engine and 3-speed 350 automatic transmission. Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and intake manifold with long tube headers and Flowmaster 40 Series dual mufflers. Vintage Air Gen IV Magnum System AC and heater. This truck runs cool with a “Be Cool” aluminum radiator combined with an electric fan. Flaming River tilt steering column and banjo-type V8- branded steering wheel. Dual Unity/GM fog lamps and a driver side Unity/GM spotlight.
The interior has been redone and presents in excellent condition. It features Classic Instruments “Vintage Series” gauges (including a separate rpm gauge) and grey vinyl front and rear bucket seats with 3-point seat belts all around. The truck has a custom center console with dual cup holders, a Vintage Series matching clock, and a Kenwood CD/AM/FM radio/receiver with six speakers (front and rear). The interior is topped off with a black headliner (with dome light) and charcoal carpet front, middle and rear. All instruments are completely functional.
This ’53 Suburban has a very nice stance and sits on Coker Classic 215/75 R15 white wall tires in the front and 235/75 R15 in the rear (with approximately 10,000 miles on them). Powder coated gloss black “smoothie” wheel rims with chrome beauty rings topped off with Chevrolet-branded chrome hubcaps. The paint and chrome bright work are in very nice condition. The medium tinted glass is like new all around.There is no known rust on this truck.
Recent work includes new exterior paint and rear disk brake conversion.
I have owned this Suburban for approximately 12 years and have completed most of the improvements over time. Overall, this is a beautiful truck in excellent, reliable running condition. $49,995. OBO.
