This is a genuine Super Sport verified right in the Vin number.
Very attractive colors and desirable 4-speed. Not a frame off
restored show car but a very nice, unabused cruiser.
EXTERIOR: I absolutely love the color, I'm a sucker for dark blue.
The body is very straight, I don't see any rust or damage. The
panels line up square and flush, doors shut like new. Repainted its
original Daytona blue which does have small metal flake. When the
light hits it, it has some nice blue highlights. Polished smooth
and glossy but it's an older paint job with imperfections. Overall,
the chrome looks like good original. The SS has machine turned trim
down the sides and tail panel. Correct antenna and dual bow tie
mirrors. Stainless trim around the windows is polished and
straight. Original glass all around shows well. SS hubcaps are in
very good shape.
INTERIOR: Overall very nice, well-kept interior. The best part
about it is the bucket seats with a console and a 4-speed sticking
out of it. Correct reverse lockout chrome shifter. Down on the
floor is nice blue carpet with deluxe seatbelts. The upholstery is
very good including the seats and door panels. The headliner is
excellent with matching visors. Interior lights work. The dash area
is clean. Nice original paint, trim is not cut up. A gauge cluster
is mounted down below. There's a stereo hidden in the glovebox. It
also has the glovebox pouch with manuals.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Correct 327 with a 4 barrel carb. All stock-
manifolds, valve covers and air cleaner. It looks clean and proper.
The metal is smooth, painted nicely. Battery is secured, choke tube
and washers are hooked up. It has horns, fan shroud, hood
insulation etc. Alternator and fuel pump look recent. Optional
power steering.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Very solid, it's painted a gray spatter finish.
The paint under the trunk lid is still original! it is complete
with a jack and spare assembly. The trunk light works. Mats and
weatherstrip are good.
UNDERSIDE: The front end looks like it has been maintained, I see
new swaybar end links and shocks. The power steering control valve
looks recent. The exhaust from the mufflers back have been
replaced. The underbody does appear to be very solid. Looking up at
the motor it is very clean, it has the correct oil canister and a
rebuilt starter. The Muncie 4-speed transmission looks fresh.
This car looks and sounds great. I like how it feels- doors shut
like new, shifts smoothly. These Impalas are very desirable,
especially a real SS with a 4-speed!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to
assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are
answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video
that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are
displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car make an
appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment
there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car,
your admission will be refunded and you will be given a 1 year
membership.
