For Sale: 1980 Toyota Celica in BELLINGHAM, Washington

Vehicle Description

I am the original owner and selling my 1980 Toyota Celica GT L/B 5 speed with 2.2 Liter 20R 4 cylinder engine. I am located in Bellingham, Washington and listing the vehicle for $7,800.

This vehicle has been very well cared for and kept garaged since 1988. The vehicle odometer shows 59,850 miles, but the odometer has turned over two times and the total miles are 259,850. I had the engine replaced in 1991 with a remanufactured 20R engine at 136,313 miles. So the current engine has 123,543 miles. The carburetor, exhaust manifold gaskets, clutch, and vacuum advance unit were also replaced during the replacement of the engine.

The car has manual steering and transmission. The sun roof is also manual open/close. This model does not have air conditioning.

The vehicle or engine has not been modified in any way. Most parts are OEM when possible or Toyota approved after market. I have not removed or modified any of the environmental vacuum hoses or EGR controls. I have new emission control and vacuum hose stickers as well as paperwork for the engine rebuild. I did replace the original AM/FM radio a number of years back for a CD player and add on speakers.

The vehicle is operational and safe to drive. All the systems are working and there are no known issues with any parts. There is no evidence on the garage floor of any fluid leakage. The vehicle has never been in a smoking environment.

The original seat cover material was replaced with cloth in 1995. The cloth is a bit worn and faded and some of the interior fabric on sidewalls is beginning to come loose due to glue age. The paint is original and in generally in good shape as the vehicle was regularly waxed. There are some door dings and paint fades. The left rear corner was dented in parking lot accident and repaired at home with touch up paint. It has not been involved in any major accidents and the frame has never been damaged.

This vehicle has always been a serviced on a regular maintenance schedule with oil replaced every 2,000 miles. Maintenance problems have been consistently taken care of and parts replaced as needed.

In the last year I have replaced the water pump, radiator clutch fan, thermostat, front brake calipers and rotors and brake fluid. A list of work and parts replaced in last 20k miles are:

Catalytic converter, igniter assembly, muffler, spark plugs and wire set, valve cover gaskets, radiator, radiator hoses, rear wheel cylinders, true start battery, distributor cap, drive line bearings and seals, good drive line gear inspection, struts, tie rods, control arms, idler arm, pitman arm, control arms, sway bar links, rebuild gear box, oil pan gasket, master brake cylinder and Michelin Defender tires.

I have clear title to the car in my possession. The vehicle is license in Washington State through May of 2023. This vehicle was given all the recommended Toyota service for the first 10 years and I have all the maintenance records since I had the engine rebuild done in 1991.

This was the first car I ever bought new and I have done my best to keep it well maintained. It is my hope that it can find a buyer who will love it, care for it, and enjoy it as much as I have over the last 42 years.
