This gorgeous 2002 BMW Z8 is a wonderful example with only 8,900 original miles. The BMW Z8 is a highly collectable German sports car that was only produced for three model years ranging from 2001-2003. A total of 5,703 were produced world-wide of which 2,543 were for the North American market. The Z8 originally was designed as a styling exercise intended to evoke and celebrate the 1956-1959 BMW 507. Prototypes were spotted testing between 1996 and 1999. A concept was later developed to preview the Z8, called the Z07 and showcased in October 1997 at the Tokyo Motor Show. The Z8 was showcased as James Bond’s car in the film “The World Is Not Enough” released in November of 1999. This example’s production date was November of 2001 and is one of 524 produced as a 2002 model year. As the original factory window sticker indicates it was finished in a Titanium Silver Metallic exterior and a Nappa Black all leather interior. It is one of 1,895 produced in this desirable color combination. This example was shipped to Classic BMW located in Turnersville, NJ and sold to its first owner who lived in Wenonah, NJ on February 8th, 2002. It was purchased by a dealership in Greenwich, CT on June 3rd, 2004 with 3,589 original miles. The dealership sold the car to its second owner on May 19th, 2005 with 4,757 original miles. The second owner lived in Goshen, CT and purchased this vehicle an investment. In July of 2009 the second owner moved to Millbrook, NY. As the clean Car Fax report indicates the second owner only averaged a few hundred miles per year. This car was always maintained and stored properly. The second owner decided to sell the car after 17 years of ownership to MS CLASSIC CARS on May 6th, 2022. MS CLASSIC CARS immediately scheduled an appointment with BMW of Warwick for a complete inspection and comprehensive service. MS CLASSIC CARS went above and beyond with the service which totaled $7,117.98. During the detailing process this vehicle was ceramic coated with Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra. The original four tires, two key fobs, valet key, owner’s manuals, hardtop, hardtop stand, soft top boot cover, windscreen, windscreen bag, tool kit, first aid kit, front license plate bracket, touch up paint and Car Fax report are also included. The attractive exterior is in beautiful condition throughout. The classic design and styling is total eye candy. The body is free of any dings or dents. The paint is virtually flawless with exception a few very tiny chips and some scratches on the bottom side of the front lip. It retains 100% of the original factory Titanium Silver Metallic paint which was tested with an electric paint meter by MS CLASSIC CARS. The paint was recently detailed to a show quality shine and then ceramic coated with Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra for added protection. The front lower portion of the bumper has some road rash that was touched up with Color System BMW touch up paint that was ordered from BMW of Warwick and included. It’s equipped with the factory painted hard top and black cloth soft top which fit like a glove. The soft top does have a few slight wear marks from being folded down over the years. The factory hard top stand is in excellent condition and included. All of the glass, rubber seals, headlight covers and lenses covers are also in excellent condition. The factory dressed the exterior with many chrome appointments which include the mirrors, front grill trim, fender trim, door handles and tail light trim. It’s equipped with automatic soft top, rollover protection, Xenon headlights and neon brake lights. The car sits on the original Z8 double spoke forged 18” light alloy wheels that are also in excellent condition. The wheels are wrapped with new factory replacement Bridgestone Potenza RE050A run flat tires that are 245-45-18 on the front and 275-40-18 on the rear. These are the replacements for the original factory tires. The original four Bridgestone Potenza RE0 245-45-18 front and 275-40-18 rear tires are included.
The sporty Nappa Black all leather interior is also in beautiful condition throughout. The classic design and styling is carried from outside to the inside. The painted interior trim pieces looks amazing such as the dash, steering wheel, door panels and center console. The white clock stands out among the black gauges. The bucket seats are very comfortable and show hardly any signs of wear. Some factory safety features include dual threshold “smart” airbags for driver and passenger, dual door-mounted side-impact airbags and automatic seatbelt tensioners. Some factory comfort and convenience features include a remote entry security system, auto dimming interior mirror, engine start push button, sport steering wheel with chrome spokes, electrically adjustable steering column, power mirrors, power locks, power windows with one-touch operation, 6-way power adjustable sport seats, heated seats, air conditioning with micro filter, radio with navigation system, multi-information display, 6 disc CD changer and Harman Kardon sound system with 10 speakers. The original digital cellular telephone is included. Everything in the interior is in working order right down to the flashlight. The trunk compartment is in great condition and fully carpeted. The new BMW battery with charging cords, tool kit and first aid kit are concealed underneath the floor for easy access.
The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout. The hood insulation is very nice and both lights are in working order. There are no signs of oxidation or deterioration. It still retains all of the original VIN tags and factory stickers. A BMW Performance Package carbon fiber strut- tower brace was installed at the dealership. The car is powered by a 4.9 liter DOHC, dual VANOS 32-valve V8 engine that was factory rated with 394 horsepower and 368 lb-ft torque. This engine was recently completely serviced including new spark plugs and runs excellent. This engine, known internally as the S62, was built by BMW Motorsport and was shared with the E39 M5 sports saloon. The engine is located behind the front axle in order to provide the car with a 50/50 weight distribution. The factory claimed a 0-62 mph acceleration time of 4.7 seconds but other tests from various companies reported quicker results. The engine is coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission which shifts very smoothly.
The undercarriage is also highly detailed throughout. There are no signs of oxidation or deterioration. It still retains all the original factory paint marks and stickers. It has an aluminum space frame, M Driving Dynamics Control and Dynamic Stability Control, Dynamic Brake Control and All Season Traction with limited slip differential.
