Vehicle Description
This 1962 Pontiac Catalina takes the right cool/classic look and
injects the right touches of street machine style. So no matter if
you love it for being a bright white hardtop or because there's a
big 400 V8 under the hood, you know this is an all-around
attractive package.
Pontiacs of this era were out to dominate the road with the Wide
Track style that made these a legend. It includes the wraparound
chrome bumpers that were integrated so nicely into the sheet metal;
the bright grille that came to a point to showcase the Pontiac's
arrowhead; and the extra trim over the rear wheels to draw your
attention where the power was meeting the ground. This Catalina
truly owned the boulevard back in the day. It still has that
presence now. The creamy white paint has a nice look and a good
glow. It makes for a solid-looking classic in an overall
driver-ready package. After all, those black wheels, dog dish
hubcaps, and raised white letter tires give it the kind of stance
that made others on the blacktop watch out.
The black interior is a nice contrast to the white interior, and
later investments mean the upholstery, headliner, and other
fundamentals feel quite inviting. A full-size hardtop with two wide
rows of seats means this is the kind of car where family and
friends can really spread out and get comfortable. It's a full
classic package, right down to the working dome light and the AM
radio that's there for a display. But there's also something more
going on here. And there's just something about a bench seat car
with a Hurst floor shifter and auxiliary gauge trio that gives it
the vibe like it loves to be the quarter-mile king.
Pop the hood and see that great blue block radiating from inside
the engine bay. The 400 cubic-inch V8 was larger than what the
factory Catalinas were getting in '62, and so you get a touch of
the Super Duty feeling. And this one has nice features like a
four-barrel carburetor and a 2.5-inch X-pipe dual exhaust. So
Pontiac was GM's excitement division, and this one takes that to
heart with a nice touch of added performance. And this strong motor
combines with the three-speed automatic transmission, power
steering, hydroboost power brakes, and front discs to make this a
smooth all-around driver.
This Catalina has the look of a quarter-mile hero, and the extra
power certainly gives you that kind of tingle. But the real appeal
here is how this hardtop is a fun and solid driver that uses its
added power to make it feel smooth on the streets. So if you want a
true cruiser with some extra attitude, you need this Pontiac. Call
