Vehicle Description
This 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 Tribute has big block power, a
distinct color combo, and the right comfortable classic cruiser
features. But what really makes this a terrific classic is that
it's coming off of nearly 40 years of the same ownership. So since
you have plans to treasure this hardtop, it's quite appealing to
find one that has already been cherished for decades.
This is the kind of story we all want our classic to have. This was
purchased by a couple in 1983. The car was only 15 years old at the
time, and so not too many '69 Chevelle's were being kept as true
classics yet. But over the next few years, they gave it the right
maintenance and investments. This includes an engine upgrade and a
quality respray of the factory-correct Azure Turquoise. And this
bright blue color really sets the car apart. There's metallic in
the finish that goes with the nicely polished bumpers and trim. And
the light color gives a nice contrast to the painted black roof
that replaced the factory black vinyl top and full-length SS
stripe. Plus, you have other great Super Sport upgrades, like the
dual power dome hood, wide dual exhaust tips, and mag wheels. We
can see from the condition today that there were likely more paint,
body, and/or other cosmetic upgrades over the years. It's just in
the way this has a nice clearcoat finish and everything seems like
it has been given the proper investments to stay attractive. So it
was a welcomed sight when the couple drove to the Peach State
Chevelle car club events. Today the coupe isn't concours perfect,
but it is the right kind of classic that's perfectly ready to drive
to car shows across the state. So while this car gave one couple
nearly 40 years of memories, now it's time to be extraordinary for
someone new.
We always like it when the roof and pinstripe are also a preview of
the interior color. It just seems to give a classic an added touch
of premium. The full black style looks quite clean and complete
from a later restoration. And you'll love the details, like the
button-top seatbacks and working dome light. You may choose to
upgrade the radio or restore the R134a air conditioning. But from
day one, it has the right feel for a proper driving coupe. You have
front bucket seats, a center console in-between, the classic
horseshoe shifter, a classic Chevy sports steering wheel, a tilt
column, and full gauges - including tach. So you can really
understand how this one feels comfortable even for the longer
trips.
The motor may be a younger replacement, but the 396 cubic-inch big
block certainly has the look of stock. You get the classic orange
block, bright valve covers, and a shining air grabber with
callouts. It inhales deeply through a four-barrel carburetor, and
it exhales with that special big block rumble from the dual
exhaust. But because this big block is also a cruiser, this
Chevelle has the right features to be an all-around solid driver.
That's why you have a stout but smooth TH400 three-speed automatic
transmission feeding a 12-bolt rear end. There's also power
steering, power brakes, front discs, boxer rear arms, and sway bars
front & rear.
This iconic hardtop has been cared for the way you would have
wanted had you been ready to buy in 1983. So if you're ready to be
a part of something that's both powerful and special, call
today!
