Vehicle Description
2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup
Dodge had technically been producing trucks since 1917, but their
1981 pickups were the first ones to sport the Ram name. In order to
signify this, Dodge slapped a ram's head hood ornament on the
trucks after Lee Iacocca, Chrysler's President and CEO at the time,
decided it was a good mascot.
For consignment, a powerful Dodge Ram 1500 (5.2 Liter Magnum
Engine) pickup, with plenty of extras to add to the already white
eye candy. This 1 owner, low miles truck, (7,756), has not been
driven hard or used to haul and it certainly shows. Custom touches
abound throughout the body and interior and plenty of other goodies
added on since its original purchase. A unique, 1 of a kind version
of the tough RAM 1500.
Exterior
With nary a speck of rust anywhere, this 2001 truck is wearing its
near flawless factory application of white. A few spider cracks are
noted on the lower front air dam, but one must be up close to
notice them. Up front the massive body colored grille and bumper
setup looks like a large freight train coming right at you. A
horizontal ribbed grille filled with a honeycomb insert and air
inlets in the body matching in the bumper, along with the twin
scoop functional ram air hood and lower body colored valance, and
you'd best get out of this freight train's way. Aftermarket ground
effects panels are added to the lowers and have black plastic
ribbed step areas to make entrance and exit a breeze. These panels
cover the entire rocker area as well as the lower rear bed sides
and add a sporty look to the overall truck demeanor. Gracing the
top of the cab is a body colored fiberglass visor as well as the
addition of rear roof spoiler in clean white. A hard clamshell body
matching cargo area cover that locks securely covers the bed and
has been fitted with a 2 pedestal low profile spoiler. Speaking of
the bed, nary a mark is seen under the clam shell cover. This bed
has never hauled a thing! Gaps are being perfectly minded
throughout, and it is difficult to find even a ding on this beauty.
Hanging from either door are white shorty sport mirrors, and white
drip covers have been added to the tops of the doors. 17-inch
polished 5 spoke Rage rims are now on all 4 corners, showing just a
smidgen nicer than the factory wheels and are wrapped in deeply
treaded 285/75R17 rubber. The dual exhaust exits out the rear of
this truck just under the custom rear roll pan with slit-like
lighting.
Interior
Climbing into the inside we pass gray plastic panels for the doors
with embedded gray molded vinyl for the armrest and a clean leather
insert above. This also houses the power door locks, windows, and
side mirror adjustments. Some custom walnut burl has been added
around the speakers in the doors and adds a nice touch of class.
Wide supple leather buckets grace the passenger compartment which
were added a year after the initial new purchase. This install, as
well as the dressed up door panels was performed by Ladd-Hanford
Dodge in Lebanon, PA. An extra-large centrally located console is
between these buckets offering up plenty of square footage for
whatever you want, including folding it up to make room for a
third. The black-faced gauge cluster is all original and very
clean, and as part of the interior upgrade, walnut burl surrounds
have been added throughout the dash. We note an aftermarket
AM/FM/CD player has been installed in dash central and down low is
the microphone for a CB radio, got your ears on good buddy? Clean
like new gray carpet floods the floors all the while providing the
space for the long armed shifter protruding from the hump and above
is a tight gray felted headliner
Drivetrain
Under the hood is a very clean engine bay with a 5.2 liter Magnum
V8 monster shoehorned within it and capable of 230 horses. It has
EFI which is assisted by the aforementioned functional ram air hood
and supporting accessories. On the back is a 5-speed manual
transmission which sends power both front and rearward to 3.55
geared axles.
Undercarriage
The underside is fine and dandy on the no rust condition with miles
of black steel. On front we see independent coil springs and power
disc brakes and in the rear we note a leaf spring suspension and
power drums. Exhaling is through single stainless piping with a
Flowmaster muffler that splits to dual exhaust piping that ends
with chrome tips just under the rear roll pan. Just fine for the
undercarriage, strong and sturdy.
Drive-Ability
King of the road would be adequate for my experience behind the
wheel on this one, all customized out, and many extras, all like
freshly washed linen. She fired right up, and ran like a big truck
should, gave me a slight kick in the pants with acceleration, a
slight tightening of the shoulder belt on the panic stopping, and
had a nice smooth ride at cruise speed. All functions were working
swimmingly.
Super duper on this customized 1500 Magnum cargo skate. All
beautifully preserved, well maintained and well cared for. Not your
typical RAM 1500, and an eye catcher, and head turner ready to butt
heads with the best of them.
