For Sale: 1965 Shelby Cobra in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

One of the nicest fit and finish kits on the market, the Backdraft Cobras are hand built in South Africa. They are sold as a customized completed rolling chassis and allow you to add your own drivetrain. The quality supersedes most other kit makers on the market. This Cobra has just under 2,500 original miles and is in excellent condition.

EXTERIOR: The paint is slick and vibrant, finished in the classic indigo blue with dual white racing stripes. The stripes are smooth to touch and have been cleared over. All the chrome, stainless steel trim, and bumpers are in excellent condition with no pitting or weathering. The wheels are a Cobra reproduction and are fitted with BFGoodrich tires with lots of life left! These Backdraft Cobras are elegant yet still retain that tough appearance. There are a couple small stone chips on the front as to be expected from sitting so low to the ground. This has additional accessories like tinted visors and side wing windows.

INTERIOR: Inside shows exceptionally well and you're able to tell the difference in quality by Backdraft as well. The seats are real leather replicas to the original Cobra. Even the driver seat is angled slightly to align you properly with the foot pedals. The carpet is fitted nicely as well as the leather wrapped dash. This has functional classic 7-gauge cluster, turn signals, wiper blades, a working horn, and fuel pump and fan switches. In between the seats is the classic 5 speed Cobra shifter as well as a battery disconnect. This Cobra has dropped steel floors allowing bigger people to have plenty of room in the cab.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Under the hood you'll find a very appealing, show worthy engine bay. Backdraft goes beyond tubular chassis and has stainless steel cladding on the fender lining to give it a nice appearance. This has a manual steering rack, electric radiator fans, stainless coolant reservoir, a very sharp looking Windsor 302 block with Edelbrock aluminum heads, a small cam with a nice lope, dual Holley carb, and triangular stainless air cleaner. All the hoses and wiring are tucked nicely and fitted properly.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The quality continues! Fully carpeted with a nice battery tie down and a red top optima battery. There's a kickstand attached to keep the trunk lid popped.

UNDERSIDE: Underneath is spectacular! Backdraft uses a front coil over shock system, 4 wheel disc brakes, multi link rear suspension with a Ford 8.8 rear end and 3.55 gearing ratio. All the powder coating still shows nice and shiny in gloss black and is new looking. This car truly is spectacular inside out!
