Vehicle Description
2002 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am
In 2002, the Trans Am rolled off production lines with
325-horsepower achieving 0-60 in under five-seconds. But depending
on an owner's budget, this car is fully capable of producing over
500-horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque. There are even insane
twin-turbo 1,000-horsepower examples. Talk about a grand crescendo
for the nameplate!
For consignment, originally from our friends up north in the St.
Therese, Canada assembly plant, this sculpted, aerodynamic T-topped
muscle car. With decent miles for the age, (75,091), dressed as a
WS6 version with new tires, new fluids, ram air induction, and all
in very nice original condition.
Exterior
All dressed up in sinister black, from the 2 bumps at the front of
the fenders that magically turn into headlights, to the Ram Air
intake cowling hood flanked by 2 front fender bumps, and more
intake inlets on the quarter panels, to the severely raked
windscreen, to the rear trunk lid that seems to go on forever as it
becomes an integrated spoiler. Just below the spoiler are honeycomb
style tail lights, with the passenger side having a darker tinting
than the driver's. All in nice condition, and an available T-top
setup comes with this car. Highly polished chrome factory WS6
wheels are seen on all 4's.
Interior
Ebony leather covers the two front power buckets, the rear 2 plus 2
bench, and steering wheel, as well as the Hurst gear shift. Leather
is soft and supple and shows only minor bolster wear on the
driver's side. There are 6-way power seats on the driver's side and
4-way on the passenger. A swooping center console is flanked by the
buckets and makes its way to the dash while including a glove
box/armrest, cup holder, gearshift, climate controls, and an
aftermarket Alpine AM/FM/CD player fills the factory spot in the
dash. The normal cluster instruments are clean and bright. Nice
matching ebony carpet floods the floor.
Drivetrain
A 350ci LS1 V8 is found within the engine bay and is electronically
fuel injected. The 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission is bolted
to the back, and these in combination make use of the 10-bolt 3.23
rear axle ratio and posi-traction and this in turn allows the tires
to spin and make the black marks on the pavement!
Undercarriage
The undercarriage is very clean with no dirt or scratched paint,
just some road dirt, patina and black paint applied over areas of
surface rust. Power front and rear disc brakes are on all the
corners, and this car comes equipped with electronic traction
control. Independent coil springs on the front and a torque arm
with coil springs on the rear provide the ride.
Drive-Ability
This car started right up, and even with the miles, smells new!
Smooth shifting, nice power and great ride as well as interior
comfort. One gets the feeling of driving a piece of sculpture with
all the inlets and curved cowlings etc. Overall a great driver like
new. We did note that the driver's up and down power seat function
is non operational.
A good mileage well cared for example of the modern style Trans Am.
Aerodynamically designed and performance enhanced to be reliably
driven, hassle free. Press the button, open up the top panels and
make some marks on the pavement!
