Vehicle Description
Classic Car Addict is excited to present this awesome 1974
Volkswagen Super Beetle for sale in our Mesa, AZ showroom.
Volkswagen has had a rich history of classic, inspirational, and
iconic models. And few cars have been as culturally significant as
the Volkswagen Beetle. Nowadays, the classic Beetle has become a
sought-after collector's car. Not only are parts in ample supply
thanks to the millions that were produced, but the appreciation for
the "love bug" is as strong today as it was when it launched. The
Super Beetle was a vast improvement over the standard Beetles.
Instead of using the standard Beetles torsion bar the Super Beetle
came with a MacPherson strut front suspension assembly. This change
gave the Super Beetle a greater turning radius and improved its
driving quality. Another distinction between the Super Beetle and
the standard Beetle is their size. With a slightly longer and wider
body than the VW Beetle the Super Beetle expanded its storage
capacity. This made it possible to fit the spare tire and still
have room for groceries. The orange paint has the right color vibe
you want for a 1970s machine, and it has a good gloss that lets the
sunshine show off the curves that make the VW unique. The
brightwork is complete in places like the hubcaps, bezels, and
full-length side trim, but there are also areas with added
distinction. Fit and finish are decent all around and this would be
a smart buy just because it's in such good shape! It still offers
early Beetle styling cues like the flat windshield and smaller
fender and rear marker lights, making it a favorite among VW
enthusiasts. The chrome is quite good, the glass is in great shape,
and the running boards are nicely trimmed. The interior has the
basic sturdy VW feel, and it has the look of investments in all the
right fundamentals. The high-back front bucket seats are a hallmark
of these later VWs, and they offer the kind of support you want for
all-day cruising. Rear seat does have a rip as well as the front
driver seat. The original speedometer/fuel gauge setup gives you
the basics and all gauges work properly. It does have an updated
CD/MP3 with AM/FM tuner. VW's familiar 1600CC flat-four whistles
away under the rear deck. You do get a very nicely recently
finished 1973 VW 1600cc engine. The 4-speed is typical VW vague,
but the suspension feels buttoned-down and competent, and the
exhaust system gives it that traditional VW sound. A stock-spec
flat-four like this was never about pure speed, but they are hardy
and ready for the road. Don't miss out on this awesome piece of
history and let's go cruisin' man. The VW will be sold on a clean
Arizona title. Also be sure to check out our website for 150+HD
